Chapter 415 Boys Don't Kiss Girls
Keith swept a cold glance in Owen's direction.
His look was icy, and Owen couldn't stand it. His crying was feigned, and under Keith's gaze, he promptly shut his mouth.
"Didn't Angela give you a gift before?" Keith reminded him.
Keith's reminder prompted Owen's memory to stir. "Oh right, Angela gave me a gift, a painting she crafted herself... I'm the sole recipient of Angela's gift. None of you possess such a treasure! I must be the luckiest kid alive! Angela, dear Angela, I adore you!" Owen's excitement surged as he planted an enthusiastic kiss on Angela's cheek.
Ivan's brow furrowed deeply as he seized Owen by the collar and flung him aside, his tone frigid as he cautioned, "You are not permitted to kiss Angela again."
"Why not?" Owen protested with a pout, feeling unjustly treated. If he couldn't kiss Angela, then there seemed to be no point in anything.
"You're a boy, and Angela is a girl. Boys cannot simply go around kissing girls," Ivan asserted sternly.
Owen fell into silence, recalling a similar admonition from his preschool teacher. This meant he could never kiss Angela again.
Keith remained wordless, pondering his own predicament. He hadn't kissed Angela either, and now it appeared his chances were slipping away.
Todd said nothing aloud, but inwardly, he felt a twinge of relief. For once, Ivan had acted appropriately; Angela was certainly not someone just anyone could kiss. Attempting to steer the conversation forward, Haley suggested, "Let's see what gift Keith has brought for me." With anticipation, she unfolded the document in her hands, and her astonishment was immediate.
It was a share transfer document from the DeRoss Group. She already held twenty-five percent of the shares, and this document offered an additional forty percent. By signing it, she would wield control over sixty-five percent of the company shares, making her the unequivocal leader.
She never fathomed that Keith would bestow such a gift upon her. "Keith, thank you," she uttered, deeply moved. Suddenly, she felt her own prepared gifts were inadequate.
"As long as it pleases you," Keith responded with a smile. "Shall we head inside?"
Haley tucked the document away safely in the car, nodding, and ushered the children toward the villa's entrance...
"Wait up, Haley!" Owen called out, tugging Angela along, leaving Ivan trailing behind.
Ivan touched his nose, feeling left out. Not only had he been excluded from the gift exchange, but it seemed he wasn't even needed for the stroll, wondering if he was truly that dispensable.
As the group of six entered, the once-quiet villa resounded with the chatter and laughter of children. Alfred took charge of entertaining the four youngsters in the living room while Haley donned an apron and headed for the kitchen.
Cooking was a passion for her, especially when it came to her children; even the simple act of chopping potatoes brought her immense joy...
Ivan followed her into the kitchen, motioning for the other cooks to vacate the room, leaving them alone. Perhaps it was the warmth of the kitchen or the coziness of the house, but inexplicably, Haley's heart began to race.
She fought to maintain her composure, calmly instructing, "Would you mind helping me peel these?"
Ivan averted his gaze and replied, "Of course."
The kitchen grew quieter; still, the only sounds were boiling water and the hum of the exhaust fan...
