Chapter 671
"Get out, all of you," Hollis yelled furiously, with a sullen face. The people sitting around the conference room quickly gathered their things and left.
Bark was also furious. At his age, this was truly the first time he had encountered such a situation. He slammed the table in rage and said, "What the hell is going on here?"
Ava, clutching her aching waist, gritted her teeth and said, "That little bitch just now is Haley, the general manager of Star Technical Company, our current business partner. She is fully in charge of the chip design in our project with Vanguard Corporation. After the chip was submitted, it was found to have significant issues during the review! It was stealing customer information and invading their privacy. If the chip goes to market like this, all parties involved will be held accountable!"
"That's right. Haley embedded an additional code in the chip to steal information, which is a criminal act," Hollis said coldly. "If this gets out, it will cause consumers to lose trust in the product. So, Mr. Morris decided to handle it privately. Unexpectedly, Haley had the audacity to barge into the Lumi Group to cause trouble. Should we call her bold or just plain ignorant?"
"Does she still think that just because she's Mrs. Winston, everyone has to bow to her?" Ava said angrily. "She's just a lowly hen, thinking she's a peacock. It's ridiculous!"
"Ava, mind your language," Cauth glanced at her. "Aren't you going to explain why Ms. Deross attacked you as soon as she walked in?"
"She's just a mad dog, bullying whoever she thinks is easy to bully!" Ava's face twisted in anger. "Mom, Grandpa, you have to help me get back at her."
Cauth's face turned cold. "I know Ms. Deross well. She wouldn't attack you for no reason. You must have done something intolerable."
"Uncle!" Ava cried out. "I'm your family. How can you take her side over me? Or do you and that despicable Haley have some kind of illicit relationship?"
The atmosphere in the conference room instantly became tense.
Ava realized she had misspoken. Even if Cauth had some relationship with Haley, it wasn't something she should have brought up.
"Ava is right. You shouldn't question her for the sake of an outsider. No matter what Ava did wrong, she did it for the benefit of the Lumi family," Bark said coldly. "But you, you don't have a deep relationship with Ms. Deross. How do you know her so well? As far as I know, she's the eldest daughter of the Deross family, Mrs. Winston, and we rarely have any interaction with her. How do you know her?"
Seeing Bark speak up for her, Ava became smug again. She chuckled and said, "Grandpa, you don't know, do you? Uncle's study is full of photos of Haley, from when she was a child to now."
Cauth's cold eyes swept over. "Who allowed you into my study?"
"Is this the time to ask that question?" Bark glared in anger. "Cauth, you better explain to me what's going on between you and this Haley!"
Cauth was overwhelmed by Bark's pressure, unable to resist.
He lowered his eyes slightly, his fingers slowly clenching.
"Ms. Deross is the most beautiful woman in Watertown. I have photos of her in my room too. What's wrong with that?" Bryan said nonchalantly, trying to defuse the situation for Cauth. "Everyone likes beautiful people. I don't see anything wrong with that."
"Are you defending your future stepmother?" Ava sneered coldly. "Haley is only a year or two older than you. Have you already accepted someone your age as your stepmother?"
Bryan gritted his teeth and said, "Ava, stop talking nonsense!"
