Chapter300

The drawing depicted two kids—a girl in a pink dress and a boy in denim.

At a glance, Haley knew the figures were Angela and Owen.

"It's a gift for Owen from his her," Todd explained nonchalantly. His face was calm, but inside, he was in a tumult of emotions.

He had grown up side by side with his sister, who had never given him a gift. Yet, unexpectedly, that guy Owen was about to receive something she had made herself.

Haley's expression grew complex.

If she had known Owen was Emily's son, she never would have let Angela get so close to him...

But the kids had already accepted each other, and she knew forcing a break in their friendship would hurt Angela.

"Owen is going to be so happy with your gift," Haley said slowly.

She started the engine, and the car headed toward the Winston residence.

The grievances between adults shouldn't touch the children.

Owen was so fond of her and Angela. She couldn't let her feelings about Emily affect an innocent child...

The car drifted down the road and soon pulled up at the Winston residence.

Owen burst out of the house like a joyous bird.

"Haley, I missed you! Wow, Angela, is that me in the drawing? Did you do this by yourself? Wow, I love it! I'm so lucky to receive a gift made just for me by my little sister, Angela!"

Owen couldn't stop cheering with the drawing in hand.

The little girl watched him quietly, a soft smile flickering in her eyes.

The reserved, quiet girl, once closed off by autism, was gradually opening up her tightly locked heart.

Todd led his sister by the hand into the estate.

Owen dashed over with excitement. "Angie, I've got a present for you too! Come upstairs with me!"

Angela sweetly followed him upstairs.

Todd felt a pang of jealousy.

He pursed his lips and trailed behind.

Haley had changed her shoes and was now in the kitchen cooking.

A few days ago, cooking had been a delightful and relaxing task for her, but today, her mood was notably somber.

A subtle gloom seemed to envelop her.

"Ms. Haley, these are some sushi Owen asked me to pick up for you. He mentioned you liked them. They'll be ready for dinner," Alfred walked into the kitchen, showing Haley the sushi from the fridge. "Owen can be pretty careless, but he always pays extra attention when it comes to you and Angie."

Haley paused while washing the vegetables. "Alfred, may I ask you a question?"

Alfred nodded with a warm smile, "Sure, Ms. Haley. When it comes to Owen, there's not much I don't know."

He thought she wanted to know about Owen's favorite food.

"Could you tell me why Owen dislikes Emily so much?" Haley asked, a hint of concern in her drooping eyes. "I've heard Owen call Emily an 'evil witch,' and he forbids her from setting foot in the Winston residence ever again. Why's that?"

Alfred scratched his chin.

He, too, wondered why Owen was so hostile toward Emily. Owen had never really opened up about it.
