"This Sterling person's information must have been wiped," Todd remarked, seemingly popping up out of nowhere. "Do you need my help to dig deeper?"
She passed the laptop to him. "Get whatever you can on him."
She was about to enter into a partnership and needed to know everything about Sterling. As a mother, there were risks she could not take.
Todd took the laptop from her, and his fingers flew across the keyboard. In moments, the screen went black, save for the white characters hopping across it.
"Sterling changed his name at some point. I can't find any former names..." Todd squinted, piecing together deeply buried information. "He spent eight years in an orphanage... His track record for the next few years has also been erased, and there's no digital footprint to be found...
"It seems he runs an underground firm engaged in some shady business..."
Hearing Todd's discovery, Haley recalled the human biological experiments. That must be the dark company under Sterling's control. Haley wondered what exactly that company was up to and whether it had any ties to Vanguard Corporation.
"Haley, I've pulled together all the information I could find," said Todd as he got to his feet. He opened the document he had compiled, displaying all the clear and precise information, including which details were missing.
"Thank you, Todd. Go get some rest," Haley said, patting his head before settling down to dissect the findings.
Sterling had meticulously erased traces of his past, leaving behind two distinct identities—one as the esteemed CEO of Vanguard Corporation and the other as the enigmatic owner of a shadowy enterprise, shielded from prying eyes.
Thankfully, there seemed to be no tangible link between the two entities, offering Haley a semblance of relief.
The following day, after dropping her children off at preschool, Haley headed to her office, determined to navigate the corporate landscape with renewed clarity.
"Thalia Iris, compile all relevant information on Vanguard Corporation and distribute it to the tech department," Haley instructed her assistant.
Thalia Iris hesitated briefly before voicing her concerns, "Haley, I've heard rumors that the position you're eyeing is already spoken for by someone from the Hill family. Shouldn't we reconsider?"

Haley's fingers paused mid-typing, her heart skipping a beat. "Do they have an appointment?" she inquired, her voice betraying a hint of apprehension.
"It's... it's your father and mother," Thalia Iris replied cautiously.
