Chapter 606

Earlier at dinner, Ivan ate mostly sweet foods. But he used to prefer lighter flavors and didn't even like sweet ones.
Moreover, his dining manner was casual, not at all like that of a carefully groomed heir of his family.
Haley hadn't noticed before, but now upon closer inspection, she realized that the current Ivan was quite different in many expressions, actions, and choices of words from the Ivan she once knew.
"Wait !" Haley’s voice was cold.

Martin had just gripped the door handle, his brows furrowed. He turned back and said, "Is there something else you want to say?"
"Don't you want a divorce?" Haley said slowly, "If you don't come home every night, divorce is my only option. So I hope you can stay tonight. I want to know you are still worth preserving this marriage for."
A curve formed at the corner of Martin's mouth. "Stay and share a bed with you?"
"I don't mind," Haley said lightly, "What color sheets do you like? I'll change them for you."
Martin's gaze fell on neatly-made bed with pink sheets, his interest piqued, " This is fine, I'll take a shower first."
Martin turned around and took off his black jacket, throwing it on the sofa before striding into the bathroom.
Haley's gaze darkened.
Ivan had always been meticulous about cleanliness. Before taking a shower, he would neatly hang his clothes on the rack outside the bathroom, never just tossing them around carelessly.
Haley pursed her lips, opened the door, and walked downstairs.
It was already late, and the children were listening to bedtime stories with Brenda.
Haley walked outside the villa and saw Alfred watering the flowers and singing, looking particularly cheerful.
"Why are you here?"
Seeing Haley, Alfred quickly put down his tools and greeted her with a smile.
"I just came to ask how the children have been doing at school these days?" Haley asked with a smile, "I've been too busy with work and I haven't had a chance to check in with the preschool teachers for a few days now, so I came to ask you."
In fact, she would ask Heidi every day about the children's performance at school.
" They're all doing great at preschool," Alfred said proudly, " Master Keith and Master Todd are the smartest kids there, Master Owen is the most active student, and Miss Angela is the most popular child."
Haley listened with a smile, and calmly asked, "Which child do you think resembles their father the most?"
" Definitely Master Keith," Alfred answered without hesitation "He is calm and composed. At the age of four, he has already started handling company matters and is set to be the next successor of the Winston Group."
"I I’m not so sure," Haley said, "Just in terms of daily habits, Keith doesn't like sweets, but Ivan really enjoys sweet things."
"You must be mistaken," Alfred said puzzled, "Mr. Winston doesn't like sweets at all. He has never liked them since he was young. If there's even a little sugar in any food, he'll spit it out."
Haley's eyes flickered.
It seemed that her observations were not wrong.
But what could make someone who never liked sweets suddenly develop a taste for them and seem to enjoy them so much?
"Alfred, do you feel that lately Ivan seems like a completely different person at times?" Haley asked again.
"Lately, I do feel like Mr. Winston has changed," Alfred suddenly sighed, , "I watched him grow up. When his father died ten years ago, his personality was very strange for three years. He would act one way in front of people and another when alone."
"Alfred!" Brenda suddenly appeared, her voice loud and sharp.
Alfred was startled and quickly bowed respectfully. "I'm sorry for speaking out of turn. I better get back to my tasks."
With that, he hurried back into the villa.
Haley raised her gaze, looking at Brenda, whose face was somewhat pale.
