Chapter 507
After putting the soup in the microwave, Haley turned around to look at the four children standing behind her.
The sunlight fell, and the faces of the four children were filled with innocent smiles, especially Owen and Angela, whose smiles were particularly bright.
Keith and Todd were precocious, with a maturity and sophistication on their faces that didn't match their age. However, Keith's gaze still had a hint of childish innocence, while Todd seemed like a child close to ten years old.
Among these children, Todd was the most mature.
Haley sighed. If she hadn't suffered so much in the past, would Todd have been forced to grow up?
This was not a good thing for a child.
Fortunately, now there was someone else to help her take care of the children, and Todd wouldn't have to work so hard to grow up anymore.
Haley squatted down, took Todd's little hand, and whispered, "Todd, Mommy has something to tell you."
Todd obediently raised his head. "Mommy, go ahead, I'm listening."
"I..." Haley hesitated, the words swirling on her tongue for a while before she slowly spoke, "I have accepted your father's proposal."
Todd was stunned. Before he could understand what that meant, Owen jumped up excitedly. "Mommy, is what you said true? Are you really going to marry Dad? Does that mean I can live with Mommy every day and Mommy can tell me bedtime stories every day? I'm so happy!"
The children danced with excitement, and although Angela didn't understand what accepting a proposal meant, she joined in the laughter and spinning.
A light lit up in Keith's eyes. "Mommy, our family be reunited in the future, right?"
Haley smiled gently and nodded. "Yes, in the future, our family will live happily together and never be separated again."
After four years apart, the missing motherly and fatherly love would finally return. Keith squinted his eyes, his face full of smiles.
Haley turned to look at Todd.
This child was indeed precocious. Upon hearing the news, his first reaction was not joy, but contemplation.
She raised her hand to smooth out the furrow on her son's forehead and whispered, "Todd, your father has been in the hospital bed for me for the second time. He really cares about me. I will be very happy marrying him. Don't worry, okay?"
Todd held Haley's fingertips tightly, pursed his lips, and said, "I just want to know, Mommy, are you marrying Ivan for the sake of us four children, or because you really like him?"
Owen blinked in confusion. "Isn't that the same thing? What's the difference?"
Keith fell silent.
He had always thought he loved Haley very much, but now he realized that his love for Haley was not even one-tenth of Todd's.
When he heard the news of Haley and Ivan getting married, his first reaction was that their family would be reunited, and he could finally be with Haley. Todd's first reaction, on the other hand, was whether Haley truly loved Ivan.
Was she willing to marry him for the sake of the children, or because she loved him? The difference between the two was significant.
Keith felt guilty and clenched his fingers tightly.
