Chapter 207
Todd's fingers slowly clenched into a fist.
The Winstons, just three of them; Ivan, Owen, and that kid he ran into at the hospital.
Owen doesn't have what it takes.
Haley said it wasn't Ivan either.
That leaves only one possibility.
"It's Keith, Owen's older brother," Haley whispered, "Ivan already apologized on his behalf and agreed to compensate for all the damages. Todd, let's not pursue this any further."
Todd pursed his lips, "So, his name is Keith."
Haley was surprised. "You've met?"
He had been curious about what Keith looked like, but he never had the chance to meet him.
"I ran into him outside Owen's room at the hospital," Todd said, "Did he ever apologize to you in person?"
Haley smiled and didn't broach the subject further. Holding the hands of the two children, she said softly, "You're four years old, Todd. Focus on being a kid and enjoying your childhood, okay?"
Todd agreed, "Okay, Mom."
On the way back home, he chatted with Angela while deep in thought.
When he had encountered Keith, he knew that this was someone not to be trifled with.
Indeed, Keith's hacking skills were on par with his own; he was the real pro.
But why wasn't Keith's name on the international hacker rankings?
Just as he got home, Todd received a message.
"Mom, I'm going upstairs to change my clothes."
He went upstairs with a calm expression, and as soon as his bedroom door was shut, he flipped open his laptop.
K: "Boss DeRoss, that hacker who took you on last time turned out to be a baby!"
Todd narrowed his eyes. "How do you know?"
K: "I dug up his registration info. Check this out."
A screenshot followed.
Todd clicked to enlarge the image. The registration details were simple.
Nickname: Owen the Milk Drinker.
Age: 4 years old.
K: "His profile must be fake. What four-year-old doesn't just drink milk? They probably don't even know what hacking is!"
Four-year-old Todd silently pressed his lips together.
He stared at the nickname, puzzled about why Keith would use Owen's name.
And Keith, with his 'keep out' demeanor, hardly seemed like one for milk.
Todd sent a message with a smirk: "Kids could be more tech-savvy than you think, Uncle K, you're totally out of the loop."
K retorted: "Since when did I become your 'Uncle'? I'm only thirty, in the prime of my life! And you, with your quick wit, must be an old soul! We've talked so much, but I've never seen your face. How about a photo?"
Todd replied, "I'm not a lady, there's nothing to gawk at."
He couldn't fathom why men were so drawn to looking at women, but every conversation with K invariably ended with K off to charm some date. It was undeniable evidence of the magnetic pull women had on K.
Meanwhile, Todd busied himself in the system, digging up data on "Owen the Milk Drinker." But the screen came back empty, not even a trace of account activity. Apart from a brief flurry of tasks completed immediately after it was registered a year and a half ago, the account was inactive, with no trace of recent activity, except for a bold move against Star Technology the previous night.
Todd had another question for K, "Hey, Uncle K, I need to ask you something."
