Ivan took a seat on the other side of the bed.
He stated calmly, "Alfred, get some sports drinks, please."
Alfred promptly went to carry out the request.
In the hospital room, aside from the slumbering Owen, only the two of them remained, surrounded by the sterile scent of disinfectant.
With a muted voice, Ivan said, "Thank you for this. Whatever you need, just tell me."
"I have a soft spot for Owen. I was more than willing to save him, and…" Haley's voice faltered, a slight bitterness on her tongue, "he must have snuck out to find me. That's how he got into an accident..."

Ivan paused before saying, "He's really fond of you."
A gentle smile curled on Haley's lips.
Looking at Owen resting in the hospital bed, she couldn't help but reach out and gently touch his face. She felt an immediate warmth towards him when she first saw him at the airport. Owen kept coming back to see her, time and again. Her once guarded heart had long been broken down.

Haley lifted her gaze, looking earnestly at Owen. "After this, I'm just scared that what happened to Owen could happen to Angela too. Can you promise to keep an eye on her, no matter what?"
"Of course," came Ivan's immediate response.
That little girl, like an angel of innocence, had entered his world. His heart, usually so guarded, had its walls come crashing down with just one look from her. He never understood why some people were so desperate to have daughters, but now he got a tiny glimmer of the joy they must feel.
If Angela were his daughter, he'd pamper her into becoming Cuenca's most envied little princess...
Haley's gaze met Ivan's. She saw in his dark eyes a fondness for Angela that was unmistakable. She grew curious.
Why did Angela like Ivan so much?
And just as curiously, why did Owen like her so much?
