Chapter 430

"First, prepare the flour..."
Following the instructions, Ivan poured some flour into a bowl and added water.
"It's a bit wet, so I’ll some more flour. Oh, now it seems too dry, so I’ll some more water."
But no matter how much water and flour he added, the dough wouldn't form.
"Wow, Dad, cooking seems fun. Can I cook with you?" Owen somehow managed to sneak into the kitchen, grab a handful of flour, and throw it casually, causing Ivan to be covered in flour and dirtying his black suit.
Before he could get angry, Angela ran into the kitchen.
Angela seemed unfamiliar with the tactile world of flour. She plunged her hands into the bag and gave a carefree flick, sending a cloud of white dust into the air that hazed over the kitchen...
Rubbing his temple, Ivan pleaded, "Would you mind stepping outside for a bit?"
He had failed at the first step of making noodles, and he really didn't have the patience to entertain these two children...
"Don’t you know how to make noodles, Dad?" Owen's revelation came with a peal of laughter. "You should have told us sooner. Keith will know how to make it! And if not Keith, then certainly Todd does! They're both so clever; a single glance at the recipe, and they'll have it down pat."
Ivan could only offer a silent smile in response.
Indeed, the children's sharp wits were a testament to their inheritance—his own intellect, no doubt.
Owen called Keith and Todd into the kitchen, and the four children crowded around the stove, leaving no space for him.
Todd considerately said, "If Dad doesn't know how to make noodles, then I won't eat it."
"I want to eat noodles!" Owen licked his lips. "It looked delicious, Angela. Do you want to eat it, too?"
Angela nodded vigorously, grabbed a handful of flour, and threw it at Owen's head.
"Alright, Angela, you're ambushing me again!"
Owen immediately chased after Angela, and the two of them chased each other in the narrow kitchen.
"Bang!"
"Clang!"
A pot of oil and a can of salt fell to the ground beside the stove.
Owen froze in place, took a step back in fear, and sincerely apologized. "Sorry, Dad, I was wrong!"
A sense of relief washed over Ivan as he let out a sigh. "Looks like we're out of oil and salt, which means noodle-making is off the table," he declared with a hint of finality. "Let's put this behind us and go out for a meal."
Owen wore a look of confusion. It felt as though Dad had expected their kitchen experiment to go awry.
Yet, it was an inescapable truth: no oil and salt meant no homemade noodles.
With that, Ivan, ever the pragmatic guardian, decided to lead the four kids on an impromptu dining excursion...
...
Haley drove to the Vanguard Corporation office.
Ariana was waiting for her at the entrance. "Good news, Haley, our bid has been approved."
Haley nodded. "I know, but we still have the final hurdle."
"I was under the impression that the bidding outcome wouldn't be disclosed until tomorrow," Ariana exclaimed, her voice tinged with astonishment. "But it turns out Vanguard Corporation consolidated our proposal with Mrs. Lumi's under anonymity for an internal vote. Our pitch won a staggering 80% of the vote. So, it's official, Haley—you're now the Chief Chip Designer!"
Haley absorbed the news without a flicker of surprise.
Even though she had only spent one day working on the bid, she had been in this field for four or five years and had all the necessary knowledge engraved in her mind.
Her bid, apart from being too concise, had no fatal flaws.
