Chapter 861
"Mommy, I forgot." Owen scratched his head, looking all puzzled.
Haley chuckled, "Well, let me know when you remember, okay?"
Owen nodded like a bobblehead, secretly relieved.
Alfred hollered from downstairs, "Kids, time for preschool!"
Keith immediately herded everyone downstairs. Once they left, the villa went dead quiet.
Haley was told to chill at home for at least three days. She was kinda worried about her health, so she stayed put in the study, reading.
Ivan didn't head to the office either; he was working in the study too.
The sound of his keyboard clacking was like a soothing melody, calming Haley down. Whenever she found a funny story, she'd share it with Ivan.
The warm sun melted the ice and snow, making everything feel peaceful. But then, the phone rang, shattering the calm.
Ivan glanced at the screen and said softly, "I'll step out to take this."
Haley nodded, not really paying attention.
Once he was in the hallway, Ivan answered the call.
"I've sent Martin's fingerprints to your email. Need anything else?"
Ivan nodded, "Any moves from Martin?"
"This morning, when I took his fingerprints, he didn't put up a fight or say anything. But the woman we just brought in is a mess," Jared paused, then continued, "She's all banged up, face a bloody mess. Not sure how much longer she can hang on."
Ivan's eyes narrowed. A few days ago, Katherine was fine when she was brought in. How did she end up like this?
No matter what, Katherine and Martin had history. How could Martin be so heartless?
But then again, Martin had his own dad executed. What wouldn't he do?
"Get someone to treat Katherine's injuries, and keep them apart," Ivan said coldly, "Tighten security, don't let Martin escape."
"Got it, boss."
After hanging up, Ivan found the fingerprint file in his email and had it turned into a fingerprint membrane.
Once that was done, Ivan went back to the study. Haley was leaning on the sofa, looking half-asleep.
Hearing him, she opened her eyes, "Why'd that call take so long?"
"Just some company stuff," Ivan said, pulling her into his arms. "You sleepy? Want me to carry you to bed?"
"I'm not sleepy, just bored," Haley yawned. "I think I'm meant to be busy. I can't enjoy downtime. Maybe I'll grab my laptop and do some work."
