Chapter 94 The Recording
People were indeed curious about why the Roscente Group chose to collaborate with the Hill family. Haley's beautiful eyes scanned everyone present before she opened her phone and played a recorded audio clip.
"Mr. Bailey, the internal situation of the DeRoss Group is actually very bad. The top management's favorite thing to do is to deceive big clients. If big clients like you were to sign a contract with the DeRoss Group, it would undoubtedly bring immeasurable losses to the Roscente Group..."
As the recording played, confusion filled the room. But as it continued, especially when it began to criticize the top management of the DeRoss Group, anger was written on the faces of everyone present.
"This is nothing but nonsense!" Mr. Taylor slammed the table and stood up. "Haley, where did you get this recording?"
A lazy smile played on the edge of Haley’s eyes. “You should ask Emily about that.”
All eyes turned sharply towards Emily. She bit her lip, her face filled with disbelief. Others may not have recognized it, but she knew very well that the voice in the recording was her assistant's.
She didn't have the mental capacity to think about why Haley had a recording of her assistant talking with Mr. Bailey anymore. Because now, the gaze of everyone in the room was firmly fixed on her.
She clenched her palms, took a deep breath, and slowly spoke, "Haley, I also want to know what’s going on with this recording, and why someone would tarnish the image of our DeRoss Group in front of Mr. Bailey?”
Haley chuckled lightly. "Emily, can't you even recognize the voice of your own assistant?"
She stood up, her voice gradually becoming sharper. "To prevent the Roscente Group from collaborating with the DeRoss Group, you sent your assistant to defame us in front of Mr. Bailey. That's why the Roscente Group chose to work with the Hill family instead!"
"You're slandering me!" Emily shouted in distress. "Haley, it's normal that you didn't secure the Roscente Group's project because they were difficult to work with. No one blamed you for it. How can you blame your failure on me? I am the heir of the DeRoss Group, and I wish for us to become business partners with major conglomerates. Why would I sabotage it?"
"Haley, it's ridiculous for you to randomly produce a recording and say it's my assistant. It's nothing more than a childish act! Last night, my assistant accompanied me to a dinner. We didn't have any time to meet Mr. Bailey!"
Emily's words did make some sense. Immediately, everyone sided with Emily. "Haley, if it didn't work out, it didn't work out. Why defame others?"
"Emily has been with the DeRoss Group for four years. Although she hasn't achieved much, she wouldn't stoop to such low tactics."
"She is a high-ranking member of the DeRoss Group herself. How could she let her assistant tarnish her image?"
Within a few words, everyone concluded that Haley was spreading rumors.
Haley remained calm and smiled. "Emily, you just said that you and your assistant attended a dinner together last night?"
Emily raised her chin. "That's right."
She had already discussed this matter with her assistant, so she wasn't worried about being exposed.
"Then, what's this?" Haley took out her phone and opened a social media post. She pushed the phone to the center of the table. "This is a post Mr. Bailey made on social media last night at eight o'clock. He was having dinner with your assistant."
"What?!" Emily's expression changed as she picked up the phone.
It was a photo of Mr. Bailey with her assistant. The background was the restaurant's clock, clearly showing it was eight o'clock at night.
"You can fake a recording, but do you think I have the ability to fake Mr. Bailey's social media post?" Haley sneered. "If you all don't believe me, I can call Mr. Bailey right now."
