Hollis slammed the table, her face red with anger.
"Why are you still saying I'm talking nonsense with all the evidence right here?" Haley stood up too. She might be small, but she had a presence that filled the room.
Haley chuckled. "To become the heir of the Lumi Group, Hollis, you really pulled out all the stops. First, you funneled all the company's resources to Ava, leaving Bryan in the dust. Then, you locked down the rights to the petrochemical project, putting the company's full weight behind it. That pretty much sealed your spot as the heir."
"But then, the resort project suddenly took off. Still, it couldn't compete with heavy industry. And right then, your project hit a snag." She flipped her hair and went on, "The original survey results were cut in half, so you sabotaged our project."
"Next, there was an accident at the project site, even resulting in a fatality. To keep it quiet and to appease the victims' families, Hollis, you must have spent a fortune. But not everyone can be bought. Now that all the evidence is here, I think everyone knows the truth."
Hollis's face went pale.
For the past month, she had planned everything down to the last detail. When the results were announced, all her efforts finally paid off.
But Haley had delivered a knockout punch at her most triumphant moment. It was so unexpected that she couldn't even come up with an excuse.
"Bitch, all of this is fake news, fake evidence," Ava screamed in the conference room, losing control, "Don't believe her! She's just trying to take me down from the heir position! This bitch is too cunning."
Haley shook her head, laughing.
Ava glared at her. "What are you laughing at?"
"I'm laughing at how easily you all trust Hollis." Haley's eyes turned cold, and her tone shifted. "If you hand over the vast Lumi Group to someone like Ava, the stocks will be worthless in less than three years. Are you willing to pay such a high price to support Hollis?"
The shareholders' faces changed. In the past month, they had seen clearly that Ava was a useless fool. They had thought that Ava would naturally mature and be able to manage the vast affairs of the Lumi Group since she was still young now.
But in front of them, Haley was only two years older than Ava, while Bryan was even younger than Ava. Both of them were far more capable than Ava. Their previous support for Ava now seemed incredibly foolish.
"Hollis, do you have anything to say?" Bark's face turned extremely stern. "If you insist that this is fake news, then I can only request a third party to thoroughly investigate."
Hollis's lips moved, but she couldn't utter a single word for a long time.
If a third party investigated, none of her actions would remain hidden. Then she and Ava would have no place in the Lumi Group.
"It seems you are admitting it," Bark's eyes were full of disappointment. "Twelve years ago, I personally appointed you as the CEO. I thought the Lumi Group would reach new heights under your leadership. But I never imagined that you would be so absurdly selfish to make your own daughter the next heir. Two lives are now etched on the Lumi Group's milestone."
Bark's words brought a heavy silence to the conference room. Many present were old partners who had once fought alongside Bark.
