Chapter 835
Basking in the warm winter sun from the balcony, Haley and Ivan finally dragged themselves out of bed.
It was already past eight, and these two, who rarely slept in, had snoozed a bit longer after a wild night.
Just as Haley was about to get up, Ivan's long arm snaked around her waist. "Haley, c'mon, sleep a bit more. Last night was a killer."
"You're more spent than me," Haley shot back, not even blushing. "I gotta hit the office today, so don't cling to me."
With that, she quickly jumped out of bed.
If they stayed in bed any longer, Ivan would definitely pin her down again.
Watching her dash into the bathroom, Ivan couldn't help but chuckle.
Throwing off the covers, Ivan looked at the withered leaves outside and the warm winter sun, a gentle smile on his face.
During this busy period, he planned to take Haley down South for the winter.
After getting ready, Haley and Ivan headed downstairs. The kids were already off to preschool.
After breakfast, Ivan drove Haley to the Star Technical Company building.
"I'll pick you up after work. Don't forget to wait for me," Ivan said.
Haley kissed him on the lips, "Okay, I'll wait for you."
She grabbed her small leather bag and strutted into the office building in her high heels.
Since coming back from abroad, she hadn't been to the office much, letting nearly a month's worth of work pile up.
Luckily, Ariana was a rockstar assistant. She handled the minor stuff, leaving only the big projects with serious cash for Haley.
It wasn't a shock that Ariana hadn't tackled the backlog of project files alone, most of which were old issues left by the DeRoss Group.
As she worked and sipped her coffee, time flew by.
"Haley, there's a Mr. Marcus Miller outside who says he's your sister's husband," Ariana reported as she walked in.
A bit stunned, Haley took a moment to remember who he was.
She'd met Marcus only once, on the day Barbara got married when she was eighteen.
Was Marcus here to cause trouble because Barbara got slapped in public?
But weren't Marcus and Barbara on bad terms? Rumor had it he even brought his side chick back to the Miller family. Why would a guy like Marcus come to stand up for his wife?
Haley frowned and said calmly, "Let him wait in the reception room."
She wanted to see what Marcus was up to.
After about ten minutes, Haley leisurely walked to the reception room door.
As soon as she appeared, Marcus, who was lounging on the sofa, immediately stood up and greeted her with a smile, "Haley, finally, we meet."
Haley raised an eyebrow slightly. "You know the deal between Barbara and me. I don't dare to chat with you for long."
"What are you talking about? Family ties can't be severed," Marcus said with a smile. "I'm here today to apologize on Barbara's behalf. She messed up last night. I've already given her a piece of my mind to make sure it won't happen again."
With that, Marcus picked up the gift box beside him. "These are apology gifts I personally picked out. Please don't turn them down."
