Chapter 239

"Louis, we are honored by your visit. We apologize for not greeting you outside, but please, come in."

Approaching with a beaming and deferential smile, George felt a mixture of excitement and humility.

Louis looked around at the crowd suddenly gathering, a bit confused.

As the General Manager of the Granger Group, the entire building belonged to his family. He even had a whole floor set aside as his personal office.

He thought these people gathering around were employees of Star Technology. He didn't want to offend Haley's employees.

In his typically easy-going manner, he nodded. "Has she arrived at the office yet?"

His question took George aback, leaving him just as confused.

'She? Who? Is he talking about the woman recruited due to her connections?'

George frantically signaled to the secretary with his eyes. The secretary got the hint and ran back to the office. She was going to call that woman out.

Just then, the elevator doors on that floor opened.

Haley walked out in her heels, making an instant impression when she entered into view. The secretary caught sight of her and nearly jumped out of her skin.

Louis had a reputation that spread across town. He was a ladies' man who switched girlfriends every other week, always with stunningly beautiful women hanging off his arm. Here was Haley, right from the office next door, hailed as the belle of Cuenca.

The secretary panicked at the thought of Louis laying his eyes on Haley. A sure catch about to be snapped right up. Rushing over to Haley, the secretary pleaded, "Haley, would you mind taking the back way? We've got a significant client in the office..."

Haley had crossed paths with George before, whose easygoing nature made him a breeze to get along with. She nodded indifferently. "Sure."

With that agreement, she made a loop around to her company's entrance.

Before she could exit, the sound of footsteps hastened behind her. Louis sprinted toward her. "Hey, Ms. Haley, are you running from me? Are you still upset about yesterday?"

Slowly, Haley turned, meeting Louis's gaze with a glare.

Chills ran down Louis's spine under her stare. He awkwardly touched his nose. “I was out of line yesterday. I shouldn't have done what I did. Look at me. I got my fair share of beating. There's even a giant bruise on my leg. I got thrashed pretty badly. Please, forgive me..."

The secretary was shocked by the way Louis talked to Haley. The unapproachable Louis Granger was begging Haley for forgiveness.

She didn't understand what was happening. She thought Louis was here for George.

George stood nearby, utterly baffled. “Is Louis loitering outside the office this whole time for someone else?”

It seemed like there was more to Louis and Haley's relationship than met the eye. George stepped over, slowly bridging the gap, hoping to join the conversation...

Before he could make his move, a loud crash echoed through the hall.

A pained scream followed.

Just like that, the towering figure of Louis was flung to the floor, stirring up a cloud of dust.

Everyone in the hallway stood with jaws dropped.

Haley dusted off her hands, her voice cold as ice. "Don't mess with me again."

With that, she pushed through the glass doors and entered her company.
