Chapter 648
"Haley, calm down first. Let me ask a few more questions." Pitt continued to stare at Katherine. "Who helped Ivan leave the country?"
"It was Martin," Katherine said blankly. "Martin sent Ivan away. Ivan sought death on his own. It has nothing to do with Martin or anyone else."
Katherine began to mumble to herself, her eyes starting to glaze over, which was a sign that she was about to wake up.
Haley felt like she'd been shot in the heart, the pain making it hard for her to breathe.
She desperately grabbed Katherine's shoulders and asked out of control, "Where did you send Ivan? Tell me, which country did you send him to?"
Haley shook Katherine's shoulders forcefully.
"Haley, calm down. If you keep this up, she'll wake up."
Pitt grabbed Haley's arm, trying to pull her away, when suddenly—
The door to the room was pushed open.
"Haley, here‘s your coffee, and it's still hot."
Martin stood at the door, one foot just inside the room, and froze at the scene before him.
He saw Katherine slumped on the couch, clearly hypnotized, and a man in a white coat holding Haley's arm, the two of them obviously in some kind of struggle.
In that instant, Katherine also woke up.
"Martin, Haley hypnotized me!" She ran towards Martin. "She knows everything. This was all her setup!"
Martin stood at the doorway, his gaze coldly fixed on Haley.
Haley looked back at Martin coldly.
At this point; there was no need to keep pretending.
Haley had planned for so long, all to find out where the real Ivan was, but Katherine said Ivan was already dead.
Could the words of a hypnotized person be trusted?
"Very good, indeed."
Martin pressed his tongue against the roof of his mouth and gave a wry smile.
He glanced at the steaming coffee in his hand and suddenly found it all absurd. He really was a fool.
Martin's fingers loosened, and the coffee cup clattered to the floor, spilling coffee everywhere.
Lifting his foot, he stepped on the coffee cup with his black leather shoe, crushing it beneath him as he advanced step by step toward Haley.
"Don't do anything rash..."
Pitt stepped in front of Haley, eyes warily locked onto the approaching man.
"Get out of my way!"
Martin, exuding a menacing aura, grabbed Pitt by the collar and flung him aside.
Pitt, being quite frail, hit his head against the wall and immediately losing consciousness.
"Pitt!"
Haley rushed over to him in a panic.
Pitt was the doctor she had brought in. If something happened to him because of her, she would never forgive herself.
But before Haley could check on Pitt's condition, her waist was seized, and with a strong pull, she was yanked into the man's embrace.
"Haley, do you think it's fun to toy with me?"
Martin glared at her, his teeth clenched, each word dripping with anger.
Haley stared back at him, laughing in her rage. "Shouldn't I be the one asking you that, Martin? Pretending to be your own brother, is that fun for you?"
