chapter267 The Algorithm
Keith ascended the staircase and knocked on the door of the office.
Ivan's voice came from inside. "Come in."
Keith entered, handing over the document. "Father, here's the financial report for Transmedia Tech last quarter."
Transmedia Tech was a small, struggling company that Ivan gave to Keith. Under Keith's management for just over a year, the firm made an astonishing turnaround and became one of the top-earning subsidiaries under the Winston Group umbrella.
All company records were kept confidential to keep Keith safe.
The public was unaware that Transmedia Tech was a part of the Winston Group, nor did they know that its CEO was the scion of the Winston family.
Ivan flipped through the financial statements, nodding with satisfaction. "Impressive. Profits have skyrocketed in the third quarter and show the potential to surge even more. You've done a great job with the company. Once things at Transmedia Tech stabilize, I'd like to bring you into the headquarters. What do you think?"
Keith paused before responding, "Transmedia Tech is developing a product to aid the visually impaired. I want to stay on until we successfully launch it before considering a move to headquarters."
Ivan nodded, content with the answer. "As long as you have a plan."
He had invested all of the Winston family's resources into grooming Keith, and it paid off. Keith exceeded his expectations, outperforming even him.
Keith had proved himself a remarkable successor at just over four years old.
With Keith, the legacy of the Winston family was secure for the next century.
"If there's nothing else, I'll head to my room," Keith announced.
Just as he was poised to leave, a report with a programming algorithm caught his eye on the desk.
Being a tech guy himself, he was instantly drawn by the formula. He walked over, picked up the report, and studied the algorithm intently. The more he looked, the brighter the light in his eyes shone.
He looked up, excitedly asking, "Father, who gave you this report?"
Ivan glanced over at it. "That's the A-F project execution report, submitted by Mr. Anderson from the tech department this morning. I haven't finished reviewing it. Are you interested in this?"
"Well, Transmedia Tech has hit a snag with a software we are developing. This formula could be the perfect solution to our problem. However, the report isn't quite clear. I'd like to discuss it with the person who proposed it."
"Go to headquarters and see Mr. Anderson tomorrow. He'll explain it in detail."
Keith nodded, snapping a photo of the algorithm formula with his phone.
He scribbled the formula in his notebook back in his room, running through the equations repeatedly, but couldn't quite grasp the algorithm's essence.
He booted up his computer and punched in the equation, but to his surprise, there was no trace of it online.
It seemed he had stumbled onto something original.
...
At the Winston Group, Anderson was going over some code in his office when Noah knocked and came in. "Anderson, it's the second review for the A-F project today. Nolan from Star Tech is already here. Are you going now, or...?"
Anderson furrowed his brow.
He had doubts about the project when it was first proposed years ago, but since it was backed by Ivan, the Grangers, and the Varleys, he held his tongue as an employee.
The search for a lead programmer had stalled the whole thing.
