Chapter 587

Haley held a glass of red wine and drank it all in one go.

Before the company matters were settled, she took the car keys and drove back to the Winston family.

When she arrived at the Winston family home, it was just after three in the afternoon. The children were all in preschool, following an educational plan Haley had devised for them.

Owen and Angela attended school five days a week, while Keith and Todd attended three days a week. Regardless of how smart the children were, they had to progress step by step along the normal path of growth.

Brenda was sitting in the living room watching TV when she heard the sound of the car. She turned to see Haley coming in. She was momentarily stunned but quickly understood.

Haley said, "Mom, I'm back."

Haley stood at the entrance and changed her shoes. Her face was calm and composed.

Brenda, unsure of her suspicions, put on a smiling face and walked over, "Wasn't today moving company stuff? Are you done so quickly?"

Haley nodded and said lightly, "Ivan returned to Watertown. He came back yesterday. Did you know?"

"I just found out, too," Brenda turned her gaze away, sighed, and said, "Ivan is a workaholic. When he's working, he forgets everything else. I just saw the news. Apparently, Ivan performed while discussing cooperation with a client. Haley, you're not mad at Ivan for this, are you?"

Haley stared at Brenda for a few seconds, then smiled and remained silent.

The Winston Group had a strong presence in Watertown. It was always clients accommodating Ivan, not the other way around.

Brenda's attempt to defend Ivan with such a flimsy excuse was telling.

"Of course, I'm not angry." Haley smiled faintly. " I was just wondering why Ivan didn't tell me he was coming back to Watertown. After all, I am his wife."

"Maybe Ivan was too busy." Brenda awkwardly smiled. "Haley, don't worry. I'll make sure to teach him a lesson so he won't dare to do this again in the future."

"I hope so." After saying these three words, Haley walked towards the master bedroom on the second floor.

Once the bedroom door closed, Brenda finally let out a sigh of relief and slumped weakly onto the sofa.

"Mrs. Winston." Alfred walked in from the doorway. "I saw on the news that Mr. Winston is back from his business trip. Will he be coming home today? Do we need to prepare dinner?"

Brenda forced a smile and said, "Let's prepare just in case."

She couldn't reach Martin and didn't know if he would come back.

Things were completely out of control now, and Brenda had no idea what to do.

She had lost Ivan, and she had to continue hiding the truth no matter what.

Brenda suppressed the tears in her eyes and said softly, "Let's pick up the children from school."

During this time, Brenda had always been the one to pick up the children from preschool.

When the car stopped at the preschool entrance, the four children held hands and got into the car, calling out to their grandmother.

Brenda felt very happy.

"I have good news for you," Brenda said with a beaming smile, "Your daddy is back!"

"Really?" Angela was the most excited. She covered her face and said, "Alfred, drive faster. I want to go back and see Daddy!"

Alfred said as he drove, "Don't worry, Mr. Winston will be back a little later."

"Okay." Angela's face was full of disappointment, then excitement. "No matter how late Daddy comes home, I'll wait for him!"

Brenda's eyes glistened with tears.

She suppressed her emotions and said softly, "Your daddy has been on a business trip for half a month. He works very hard. If he hasn't rested well, his temper will be particularly bad. Remember not to provoke him later."

Keith frowned and asked, "Grandma, Do you mean Daddy's temper has gotten worse?"
