Chapter 773

Seeing Ivan return safely, Haley let out a deep sigh of relief.

She set the prepared food on the table and said with a cheerful smile, "Don't bother your daddy just yet. Go wash your hands and get ready for dinner."

The table was laden with a feast.

The children ate with greasy mouths while Pitt and Karl appeared content. Thomas, however, had a mixed expression, merely consuming the food without truly savoring it.

After the meal, Pitt and Karl went to play video games.

Thomas forced a smile and said to the kids, "Come on, I'll take you out to play for a bit. We shouldn't miss this chance."

Then they went out, leaving only Haley and Ivan at home.

"What exactly happened?" Haley asked nervously.

Half an hour ago, Ivan messaged her that if he didn't return tonight, she should take the kids to Watertown.

Haley sensed something had occurred, yet she remained unsure of the specifics.

The continuous explosions outside left Haley so anxious that she could hardly breathe.

Ivan put down his utensils, held her fingers, and said, "Queen Isabella set me up with a scheming banquet. I ran into some trouble, but it's all sorted out now."

"Also..." he paused. "Jared just sent me a message. Martin has been captured. Do you want to see him one last time?"

Haley was stunned. "They really caught Martin?"

Last night, Martin had sent her a threatening message, and she was wondering how to tell Ivan about it.

"Forget about meeting him." Haley pursed her lips. "What are you planning to do with him?"

"I'm not entirely sure what grudges I have with him," Ivan said. "I'll have someone keep an eye on him. He'll be stuck in Hinterlands for the rest of his life. Let's head back home first."

Haley smiled lightly. "Once you're back in familiar surroundings, you should be able to regain your memory."

After tidying up the dishes, Haley quickly went upstairs to pack. She discarded many of the clothes and everyday items for herself and the kids, leaving only two suitcases of belongings in the end.

Owen was thrilled and said, "Finally, we can go home. I miss Grandma so much."

"I miss Grandma too," Angela said, blinking her big eyes. "We've been abroad for so long, it seems like we forgot to call her."

Upon hearing this, Haley uncharacteristically fell silent.

Brenda had been an accomplice in everything Ivan had gone through. She didn't know how to face Brenda when they got back.

Regardless, Brenda remained the children's grandmother. She wouldn't purposefully create a rift between them.

"Now that your family's issues are resolved, I'll continue my wandering," Karl said nonchalantly. "If I ever wander to Watertown, remember to take me in. Honestly, Haley's cooking is just too good; I really don't want to leave."

Haley found Karl's words very amusing. She smiled and said, "You're always welcome at our home."

Todd gave Karl a cold look. "Did you do anything other than eat this time?"

Karl responded indignantly, "Hey! wasn't it you who asked me to impersonate you to meet Leonardo?"

Todd sneered. "And you messed it up."

Karl fell silent.

Being lectured by a four-year-old, he felt really frustrated!

But his intelligence was indeed no match for Todd's. He shouldn't have come here.
