Chapter 676

Cauth looked at Haley's face against the light.

Haley's face resembled Sankar's so much, especially the eyes and nose as if they were carved from the same mold.

But her lips resembled those of the Lumi family.

Haley inherited all the best features from her parents, making her even more striking than Sankar.

It was no wonder that his daughter was known as the most beautiful woman in Watertown.

"Haley, you look a lot like your mother. When she was your age, she wasn't married yet." Cauth's voice was filled with tenderness. "But your mother had a gentle and reserved personality. She was too mild-tempered, living her life step by step, unwilling to make a single mistake."

As he spoke, he gradually fell into memories.

Haley pursed her lips. "Mr. Lumi, just say what you want to say."

Cauth snapped out of his reverie, looking at Haley with solemnity. "Haley, you are actually the daughter of Sankar and me. I am your real father."

His voice trembled.

For so long, this secret had been kept in his heart, and he had been eagerly awaiting this day.

Cauth looked at Haley's expression but found that her face did not show the shock and excitement he had imagined.

Her eyes were calm, and her face was serene, as if she were listening to something unrelated to her.

"Haley, I'm telling the truth," Cauth explained helplessly. "If you don't believe me, we can do a paternity test."

"I believe you," Haley said calmly. "I had already guessed this a long time ago. Mr. Lumi, is there anything else you want to say?"

"No," Cauth said blankly.

"Then I'll be leaving."

Haley turned and walked out through the side door.

Cauth stood there in a daze.

Why was the development of events so different from what he had anticipated?

Why wasn't Haley surprised at all? Why wasn't there the emotional and heartwarming reunion he had imagined?

Haley was too calm.

Or perhaps, Haley hated him for not fulfilling his responsibilities as a father all these years.

Cauth struggled to lift his feet, as if they were weighed down by a ton of stones.

"It seems she doesn't need a father." Bryan walked out from the corner, his voice cold. "When she needed a father the most, no one was there to protect her. Now that she is capable, why would she let a stranger of a father add to her troubles?"

Cauth looked up. "You don't seem surprised at all that you have a sister."

"I've outgrown the age of being very surprised" Bryan pursed his lips. "When my mother passed away, your pain was only on the surface. I knew you had another woman in your heart. As I grew up, I learned that before marrying my mother, you had an unknown story with the eldest daughter of the Martinez family. It's all in the past, and I don't have the habit of digging into it. But since Ms. Deross is my sister, we should acknowledge each other."

Cauth seemed a bit surprised. "Don't you reject her at all?"

"We share half the same blood. Why would I reject her?" Bryan looked into the distance. "She is going through a rough patch in her life right now and needs help. If I had the ability, I would help her. Unfortunately, I don't have much ability."

Bryan thought, this incident had made Bark even more disappointed in him and Cauth, making the position of the Lumi family heir even less related to him.

Cauth was very gratified. "As long as the heir's position is not determined, you still have a chance."

Haley was unaware of their conversation. She drove straight back to home.

As soon as she drove in, she was stunned.

On the swing, sat a familiar figure, Martin!

Angela was nestled in Martin's arms, chatting and laughing with him. If she didn't already know Martin was a demon, Haley might have believed they were a father-daughter pair.

Haley suddenly pushed open the car door and, before Martin could react, she snatched Angela away.

"Mommy, you're back!" Angela hooked her arms around Haley's neck, whispering, "Daddy is finally back to how he used to be today. I'm so happy."
