Chapter 260 Piano Lesson

"Angela's been taking piano lessons lately, and I've been trying to wrap my head around it," Todd said with a frown. "But there are a few things in here that I don't quite get. Do you play the piano, Mr. Ivan?

Ivan had taken piano lessons when he was about five or six, but he had lost interest and stopped.

However, reading music had never been a challenge for him.

He took the book from Todd and settled down on the couch, asking softly, “What don’t you understand?”

Todd moved next to him, sitting close on the couch. They sat very close. Ivan was slightly surprised.

When they were at the DeRoss residence, Todd always kept his distance, and his glances carried a hint of animosity. Yet now, the boy was sitting right beside him.

Ivan wondered if this was a sign of acceptance from the little boy.

Ivan's lips curved into a faint smile as he said softly, "This is basic sheet music notation. Each note represents..."

He continued to explain at length.

However, Todd's gaze slowly shifted toward Ivan's shoulder.

His black suit was immaculate, not a speck of dust in sight.

It took Todd quite some time before he finally spotted a single short strand of black hair on the collar.

At the end of the strand, a follicle was still attached.

Todd casually lifted his hand, his tone light and detached. "Mr. Ivan, there's some dust on you."

With a gentle pat, he brushed it off.

Ivan remained oblivious to the oddity and handed over the music sheet. "Does this explanation clear things up for you?"

"Thanks, Mr. Ivan. I get it now."

Todd picked up his book and resumed flipping through it, deeply engrossed.

Ivan watched his profile intently, and for some reason, he couldn't shake the feeling that Todd was becoming more and more like Keith.

At the next table, Angela was taking generous bites of her cake.

Alfred laid out a variety of pastries in front of the little girl, beaming as he watched her eat. "Ms. Angela, take it easy or you might choke... There's also ice cream. Have a few bites of your cake, and then try the ice cream. It's delicious. It's Owen's favorite flavor."

He was in the midst of speaking when Owen came bounding down the stairs.

Owen had heard Haley's voice, but since he was in the middle of a class, the teacher had blocked the door, preventing him from leaving. He was getting really frustrated.

Finally, after he quickly finished two math problems, the teacher allowed him to leave.

"Angela, I missed you so much." Owen lunged forward, wrapping his arms around Angela's neck.

He used to hug her every time they met. This time, she pushed him away without a second thought.

Owen, having just rushed down the stairs, wasn't yet steady on his feet. Caught off guard by Angela's push, he fell to the ground.

Angela hadn't meant to knock Owen down with her push.

She jumped up, meaning to help him to his feet, but then, seemingly struck by a thought, she sat back down and continued eating her cake with head lowered.

"Angela, don't you like me anymore?" Owen sat on the floor, looking up with a hurt expression. "You never used to act like this. Why have you suddenly changed? What did I do wrong?"

He thought back to their last encounter at Haley's house. Angela had seemed a bit distant, but he assumed she was just in a bad mood and didn't think much of it.

Today, she had actually pushed him.
