Chapter 829

Hollis's face went dark real quick.

When that witch Haley brought up Bryan, she knew Bark would be all in.

No doubt, Bryan was Bark's top pick.

"Dad's right," Hollis muttered, "Don't sweat Ava's childish antics. For the heir, how about we have a private chat with the Lumi Group in a few days to sort it out?"

Bark nodded, "We'll talk later."

Haley smirked.

She brought it up at the banquet to make sure the Lumi Family couldn't back out.

With so many people watching, even if Bark had second thoughts or Hollis tried some trick, it was too late.

She was dead set on snagging that heir spot.

The drama wrapped up fast, and the party rolled on, but folks in the hall were giving Haley a mix of dirty looks and curious glances.

Amara grabbed Haley's hand and whispered, "Haley, you shouldn't have been so bold. Now you're a target, even for Bryan."

"Grandma, I don't give a damn about what people think," Haley said with a sly grin, "I've been gossiped about my whole life. If I cared, I'd be a wreck by now."

Amara sighed, "Is it worth it to help a half-brother?"

Haley had asked herself that too.

Maybe she was touched by a single kind act from Bryan after years of coldness.

She wasn't just running for heir for Bryan, but for Cauth too.

Cauth had been down for nearly a decade since her mom's accident, losing his voice in the Lumi Family, always getting stomped on by Hollis.

He might not be strong, but he did everything to protect her.

"Don't worry, I'll protect Haley," Cauth walked over and promised seriously, "Haley is Sankar's and my only daughter. I'd lay down my life for her."

Amara looked at Cauth, feeling a bit nostalgic.

Seeing Cauth reminded Amara of her daughter, and her mood took a dive.

Steven whispered, "The party's almost over, let me take you home."

Feeling worn out, Amara nodded and let Steven help her out.

Cauth said with a complicated look, "Haley, you should've told me about this beforehand."

That way, he could've set up the heir thing perfectly, keeping Haley out of the crosshairs.

Haley smiled, "Dad, Hollis runs the Lumi Group. Even if you set it up privately, the shareholders could still shut me down at the meeting. By making it public, I can rightfully run for heir. Don't worry, I don't really want the heir spot; I just don't want Bryan getting stomped by Ava."

"Haley, if you're fit to be the heir, then it's yours," Cauth said seriously, "Bryan has his own path; you don't need to worry about him."

Haley grinned, "We'll see. I might not even take the heir spot."

She had to keep an eye on the DeRoss Group, Star Technical Company, and a few kids' companies. She was swamped and had no time for the Lumi Group.

Haley running for heir was all about sticking it to Hollis and Ava.

She found that using her power to settle scores felt pretty damn good.
