Chapter 338
"What about me? Can I call Haley Mommy?" Owen looked up and asked.
Ivan, holding the little girl, said indifferently, "As long as Haley doesn't mind, you can call her whatever you wish."
Owen looked up at Haley with wide eyes, hopeful yet cautious. "Haley, may I?"
Haley felt a tightness in her heart, suppressing the sourness in her nose. She smiled and said, "Of course you may."
"Wow, I have a mommy now! I'm so happy I have a mommy! Mommy, Mommy!" Owen chanted as he spun round and round Haley.
Haley watched him with tenderness in her eyes, and as she looked up, she noticed the other two boys standing a step away, Keith and Todd.
Todd seemed deep in thought, probably struggling with accepting her relationship with Ivan. She figured she would explain it all to Todd once they got back home.
As for Keith...
"Keith, come here," Haley motioned to him.
Keith approached with mixed emotions. While his view of Haley had improved slightly, he still found it hard to believe that this woman was now his dad's girlfriend.
Once a girlfriend, it wouldn't be long before she became a fiancée and then stepmother to him and Owen...
Would she still be kind to Owen once she officially joined the Winston family and achieved her goal?
Even their biological mother didn't love them, let alone a woman who had beef with their mother?
"Keith, you don't look good with frowns," Haley said as she reached out and smoothed the furrows between his eyebrows.
Her voice was clear and gentle. "Emily is Emily, and you are you. I hope you can put aside your thoughts of Emily and get to know me for who I am, okay?"
"Alright," Keith murmured, slightly nodding his head.
If his dad and Owen liked this woman so much, then he decided he would try to see Haley in a new light...
While they were talking, Ivan, holding Angela, walked over to Todd. The tall, 6 foot 1 inch figure dwarfed Todd even as he crouched down.
"I know what you're thinking, but rest assured, no matter what happens, I won't hurt your mommy," he said calmly.
Todd's dark eyes fixed on Ivan, and his fists clenched. "I hope you keep your word."
Otherwise, he didn't know what terrible things might happen...
The extended luxury black car awaited outside the music hall. Once the six of them got in, the driver started the engine, and they set off toward the Winston family mansion.
Arriving at the Winston's, Owen led Angela to play the piano while Todd grabbed a book and sat down beside Angela to read. Keith went upstairs to tend to some work matters.
Haley entered the kitchen, followed by Ivan. The staff, well-trained by Alfred, knew better than to third-wheel, and they vanished within a second, leaving Haley and Ivan alone.
Haley washed up slowly without turning her head and said, "Mrs. Winston, I think..."
"Don't you think Angela is really happy?" Ivan interrupted her, his voice even, "I've never seen Angela talk so much, nor have I seen her this happy. As long as I can keep her this way, I'm willing to do anything..."
Haley fell silent.
The man knew just where her weaknesses lay, gripping her tightly and forcing her to fulfill her obligations.
