Chapter 612
When Haley was about to look carefully, four children rushed in from outside.
"Mommy, since you don't have to work today, can we go to the amusement park?"
"Mommy, I want to go there, too."
Todd looked up at Haley and tenderly said, "Mommy, now that Angela wants to go, let's go!"
Keith nodded, "I'll reschedule my afternoon work for tomorrow."
Haley's eyes flickered and said, "How about we ask your dad to go with us?"
As soon as the children heard this, they quieted down.
Although the children didn't understand what was happening between their parents, they were all sensitive and knew that Ivan seemed different from before.
Keith paused and said, "Dad is so busy with work, would he be willing to go with us?"
Todd pursed his lips, saying, "Mommy, it's okay for us to go without Dad."
"Yes, I think Dad is a bit scary," Owen pouted, "I don't want Dad to come with us."
"Am I the only one who wants Dad?" Angela blinked her watery eyes, "I want Dad to accompany me to the amusement park, and I want Dad to lift me up."
As she spoke, her voice choked up and her eyes were filled with tears.
"I'll call Dad right now," Haley said softly, "Would you like to talk to Dad yourself?"
Angela nodded vigorously.
Haley dialed the phone and it was quickly connected.
"Dad, I miss you so much," Angela said in a soft, tearful voice, "Will you accompany me to the amusement park?"
The soft voice reached Martin's ears through the phone.
That strange feeling came back.
Clearly, she wasn't his daughter, but he felt a pang of heartache at the thought of Angela crying.
Martin was born and abandoned. Since then, his life had been plunged into darkness, constantly falling. Like a shadow, he lived in the world, but could not find a home.
Martin's heart was as vast as a wilderness, which was able to accept many things, yet afraid to accept many things.
In the desolate wilderness, that Martin never imagined, suddenly appeared Angela, the one who needed him, depended on him, and tried to save him.
Perhaps he could give it a try.
Tried to live a normal life, tried to walk in the light, and also tried to have love and enjoy love.
But could someone like him, as ruthless as a hyena, really do it?
"Dad, don't ignore me," Angela burst into tears, "I was wrong. I shouldn't have disturbed you while you were working, I'm sorry."
"It's okay," Martin heard his own voice saying, "I just finished my work, and I'll come back now to pick you up."
Angela turned tears into laughter, saying, "Really, Dad?"
"Of course it's true," Martin said gently, "I'll hang up now and drive home."
He hung up the phone and met Robert's puzzled gaze, Roberts said, "Leader, aren't we going to the bar to have fun?"
"Not anymore."
Martin picked up his suit jacket and walked briskly outside.
