Chapter 294

It didn't matter that he had temporarily denied the children's paternity. Once this crisis was over, he would find a way to claim his children back.

At that moment, his phone buzzed. Glancing at the caller ID, he saw it was his father.

Sighing in relief, he answered, "Dad, everything's settled. How are things back in the capital?"

"Listen, don't think I'm fooled just because you and that woman denied those kids. The netizens may be gullible, but I'm not! You're a chip off the old block, a true ladies' man, but not as cautious as me. I've suspected for a while you might have illegitimate children out there!" His father lectured coldly. "Jeremy, you must bring those children back!"

Jeremy massaged his temples. "Dad, do you have to make a scene? Bringing the kids back will hurt the company's stock price again."

"Exactly! I knew it! Those kids really are yours!"

Jeremy clenched his fist.

His father was testing him.

"If they truly are yours, we can't take this lightly. I'll plan meticulously to find the perfect time to bring them back."

Hearing his father's stern words, Jeremy remained silent.

If his father got involved, he would likely succeed in bringing the children back to his side.

He just hoped to resolve this discreetly without enduring another ordeal like today's.

Soon, dusk descended.

The evenings in Cuenca were drawing in ever earlier, with the setting sun staining the western sky in shades of orange and the night slowly engulfing the city.

Ivan drove back to the Winston residence. As he stepped out of the car and walked toward the house, he could hear laughter spilling from the living room.

It was Owen's laughter.

He was chasing a delighted little girl around in circles, clapping hands and playing like an excited seal.

Angela, who had previously shied away from Owen, watched him with her clear, bright eyes. She was smiling, clearly in good spirits.

Meanwhile, Todd sat cozily on the couch, intermittently reading a book and glancing up at Angela.

Between the three children, there was a delicate harmony, purely congenial.

As Ivan entered the living room, Angela's eyes sparkled brighter. She dropped her toy and dashed toward him.

Ivan lifted the little girl and spoke with a soft voice, "Miss me?"

She nodded vigorously.

"I would rather hear you tell me with your own words," Ivan coaxed gently. "Can you say it?"

Angela's pink lips parted, and after a pause, a faint "Yes" escaped them.

"Way to go, Angela!" Ivan encouraged, locking eyes with her. "Your voice is beautiful. I love hearing you speak. Will you try to talk more from now on?"

The little girl, feeling shy, hugged his neck.

Ivan understood these things took time.

Angela was already trying to speak, and that was a positive sign.

His gaze swept over the kitchen where Haley was chopping vegetables, surrounded by a group of male chefs. One was rinsing the greens, another was scrubbing pots, and the senior chef stood closest, guiding her on how to dice meat.

After setting the girl down, Ivan addressed the boy. "Owen, look after your sister for me."

With that, he turned and entered the kitchen.

Owen was left speechless.

This man was supposed to be his father, yet, he barely spared him a glance when he came in.

Owen felt as if he might as well have been picked up off the streets

Whatever. As long as little sister Angela was willing to play with him, none of that mattered.
