She set down her cell phone and slowly turned around to meet a pair of dark, deep eyes.
"Todd..."
A jolt went through Haley's heart. 'Did Todd hear what I said to Mrs. Miller just now?'
Todd raised his icy gaze slowly, parted his lips, and said, "Mommy, who's trying to take away mine and my sister's guardianship..."
"Todd, you heard wrong." Haley's words felt parched. "I was just discussing a case with a colleague..."
"Mommy, I came into the kitchen the second you picked up the phone." Todd spoke calmly. "Mommy, I'm grown up now. I can help you with so much. You don't have to hide things from me."
Haley sighed deeply.
She really wanted to keep the truth about the children's father a secret forever.
however, that man was their biological father, and Todd and Angela had the Miller family's blood running through their veins. She couldn't stop it.
Sooner or later, someone from the Miller family would appear before the children.
The innate attraction of blood ties wasn't something she could casually dismiss.
"Todd, remember when you were very small, you asked me who your and Angela's father was?" Haley gave a wry smile. "A week ago, he showed up wanting custody of you both."
Todd looked up in astonishment. "Our biological father?"
"He's the CEO of Chase Group, Jeremy Chase." Haley squatted down, resting her hands on Todd's shoulders. "Your biological father wants you and Angela to acknowledge your lineage. What do you think about that?"
Her voice was light, but there was a tightness in her gaze.
If Todd wanted to be with his biological father again, she would have no choice but to let go.
Todd's brows were knit tightly together.
Jeremy was a guy he had investigated. At one point, he even suspected a relationship between this man and his mother.
Then, he took was a paternity test, which confirmed that Ivan was his and Angela's biological father.
He didn't understand where Jeremy got the nerve to fight for custody of him and Angela.

Haley breathed a sigh of relief. "That's right, I'll protect you and Angela. No one is taking you away."
"Mommy, is Jeremy a tough opponent for us?" Todd spoke softly, "What are our chances in court?"
Haley chuckled. "I've hired a famous lawyer for the case. Don't worry too much about it; go and play nicely with your sister."
Nodding, Todd stepped out of the kitchen.
He took out his phone, opened a news website, and typed in a name. Haley.
A flood of news stories popped up immediately.
