Chapter 884

Keith glanced at the computer screen. Various thoughts raced through his mind, and then his body jolted violently.

"Todd, could you be overthinking this?"

"I wish I were," Todd replied, "but the fact is, Mom is indeed acting strange."

Keith couldn't believe this speculation. He took out his laptop, and quickly typed in a search for information.

[Bio-intelligent Chip implants force recipients to follow program instructions unconditionally, like emotionless biological machines...]

[To complete the instructions, the recipients even disregard their own family members. According to investigations, thirty percent of victims have killed their own spouses to fulfill commands.]

[The authorities have rescued dozens of victims implanted with Bio-intelligent Chips. Even after destroying the chips, the victims still suffer from aftereffects.]

Keith quickly read through the information and looked up in disbelief, saying, "Todd, this is impossible."

Todd replied calmly, "Tomorrow, we'll go to see Mom."

Keith hesitated for a moment and then slowly nodded.

Haley was completely unaware of what was happening with the kids. Feeling very sleepy laterly, she would go to her bedroom to sleep after dinner. Since the window in her room hadn't been installed yet, she slept in the adjacent bedroom.

Ivan didn't sleep at all that night. He had been in contact with people on the dark web. When it came to Bio-intelligent Chips, he knew more than almost anyone else in the world.

The weather was getting colder. It was only around eight in the morning when it started to get light.

Haley stretched and got out of bed. She changed clothes and went downstairs, where she found a steaming hot breakfast on the dining table.

Knowing she was up, Ivan had specifically heated up breakfast and placed it on the table for her.

Haley, eating her breakfast, walked to the study door and saw Ivan busy with work.

His profile was strikingly handsome, with jawline contours that seemed sculpted by the hand of God, so exquisite that it was impossible look away.

Haley restrained her infatuated gaze in time and asked, "How did you sleep last night?"

Without turning around, Ivan replied indifferently, "Not bad."

After a pause, he added, "Haley, I'm still on working. You should go take care of your own things."

Haley nodded and went to the adjacent study. After she left, Ivan finally stopped what he was doing.

He had consulted a programming expert, who told him that the way to counteract the Bio-intelligent Chip's commands was to avoid the conditions that trigger the commands.

When the victim's body ceased to produce love hormones for an extended period, the Bio-intelligent Chip's reactions gradually become less responsive.

Moreover, the Bio-intelligent Chip had a maintenance period, roughly once a year. If they could endure for a year until the chip aged, it would naturally become ineffective.

Ivan knew this was cruel, but until he could locate the original database, it was the only way he could protect his beloved Haley.

Haley, on the other hand, didn't feel much different. Not being in the same space as Ivan made her feel more at ease because the voice in her head wouldn't come out. She sat on the balcony reading documents.

Although she didn't go to the project site personally, Bryan would update on the project's progress to her several times a day and sometimes even hold remote video meetings. Everything was proceeding smoothly.

"Haley, I heard that the project on Hollis's side has already made its first profit. It's the first dividend from a collaboration with a major company to develop an oil field," Bryan said, pursing his lips. "Now, everyone in the company firmly believes that Ava will be the next successor, and they're all flattering Hollis."
