Chapter 562

Brenda's face turned pale for a moment.

She had known this outcome was inevitable, yet she couldn't accept it and had to ask.

Martin and Ivan had only a brief harmonious interaction during their infancy, which lasted only a few months. They had always regarded each other as enemies from their early teens to the present.

They were both Brenda's beloved sons, and she didn't know how to choose between them.

As a mother, one tended to favor the weaker child instinctively, and Martin was the more vulnerable one.

Brenda covered her chest and softly said, "Alright, then I'll ask Martin not to come."

After speaking, she started to ascend the stairs step by step.

A layer of frost appeared in Ivan's eyes as he watched Brenda's retreating figure.

These days, he had been searching for Martin, but Martin had managed to slip away each time.

Since Martin had contacted Brenda, Ivan could use the signal to track him down.

Haley arrived at the Martinez family's residence.

The Martinez family's place had also been recently decorated and was very festive.

"Haley, come see if you like the room I've prepared for you." Madam Martinez pulled Haley upstairs. "This is the bedroom where Sankar used to stay as a child. It’s been vacant since her marriage, and you’ll stay here tonight."

The room looked very neat and bright, and was obviously cleaned daily.

Haley walked to the vanity, opened a small drawer, and saw jewelry from decades ago. She could almost imagine Sankar sitting at the vanity, dressing up.

"Haley, you are my dearest granddaughter. Tomorrow, you’ll be getting married, and I truly can't bear to see you go." Madam Martinez held her hand, speaking with deep emotion. "But I hope you find someone who truly understands and loves you, who will protect you and the children, ensuring a carefree life for you. That would be enough, and Sankar would be at peace."

Haley said, "Grandma."

Tears welled up in Haley's eyes immediately. She threw herself into Madam Martinez's arms, silently holding back her tears.

Haley reminisced about many things: her hazy youth eighteen years ago and the challenging past five years she had spent in a foreign land.

But what she thought about most was her expectations for the future.

Finally, she would have a home of her own.

"Madam Martinez, there are visitors downstairs." A servant stood outside the room respectfully.

Madam Martinez quickly wiped her eyes and stood up, saying, "Come, Haley, accompany me downstairs to meet the guests."

Haley nodded, supporting Madam Martinez as they descended the stairs slowly.

Before they even reached the bottom, Haley saw Cauth sitting on the sofa in the living room.

"Madam Martinez, I hope my arrival hasn't disturbed you." Cauth stood up and quickly approached them, taking hold of Madam Martinez's other arm.

Madam Martinez looked puzzled. "Mr. Lumi, what are you doing here??"

Cauth's gaze fell on Haley, and his eyes softened instantly. "Haley and I get along quite well. I heard she's getting married tomorrow, so I came a day early to bring a wedding gift."

Many prominent families prepared lavish dowries for their soon-to-be-wed daughters as a wedding gift.

However, Haley was essentially parentless, and Madam Martinez was getting older. To avoid disturbing Madam Martinez, Haley had forbade her from making wedding arrangements. Thus, there was no need for a wedding gift.
