Chapter 434
Ivan cast a dismissive glance at the group. "Choose whatever pleases your palate; why do you have to complicate a simple meal with demands?"
Owen stood in silence, a mix of emotions brewing within.
The arrival of a new son seemed to have cast a shadow over Ivan's relationship with his elder child, his demeanor bordering on callous indifference.
Without offering Owen another glance, Ivan crouched to Angela's level, his voice softening. "What would you like for dinner, Angela?" he inquired, gently encouraging the youngest to voice her choice.
Owen, who was feeling very sad again, was struck by another arrow in his chest.
After asking Angela, Ivan looked at Haley and said, "What do you want to eat?"
Haley had nothing specific in mind and responded softly, "Whatever, just make whatever you can."
Ivan sighed in relief.
If that woman had made a specific request, he would have been a bit troubled.
Cooking fish seemed a bit difficult, but since it was just one dish, it should be fine.
Ivan walked into the kitchen with a sense of melancholy.
Alfred knew that he wanted to cook himself, and worry filled his wrinkled face. "Mr. Winston, should I call the chef?"
Ivan pretended to be calm and said, "I'll handle it personally today. You can get the chef to come and help me prepare the ingredients."
The two main chefs immediately got into position and respectfully asked, "What dishes would you like to make today, Sir?"
"A grilled fish and some chicken wings," Ivan replied. These two dishes were for Todd and Angela. As for the others...
Ivan thought for a moment and said, "Just make something simple."
It was his first time cooking, so he wanted to make it easy for himself.
One of the chefs suggested, "Mr. Winston since it's your first time cooking, you might find simple cuisine easier."
The other chef added, "There's fresh beef in the fridge. Would you like to pan-fry some steak?"
When it came to things he wasn't good at, Ivan would always listen to someone else’s suggestions. He nodded and said, "Alright, you guys prepare the ingredients first."
In the meantime, he took out his phone and searched for information on how to cook fish.
Todd and Angela had been separated from him for four years, and he had quickly grown close to Angela.
However, Todd always looked at him with a cautious gaze, which made him feel like a failure.
So, whenever Todd made a request, he wanted to fulfill it.
Ivan cooked in the kitchen while Haley played the piano in the living room with the four children.
She and Angela sat in front of the piano, playing while the other three children followed along with the music and sang. Owen was tone-deaf, so he ran around the living room, filling it with a joyful atmosphere.
After over an hour, dinner was finally ready.
Alfred, accompanied by the servants, brought the dishes to the table one by one.
"Haley, Mr. Winston personally made these dishes today," Alfred said with a smile. "This fish was specially made for Todd, and these chicken wings are for Angela. This shrimp dish was prepared specifically for you, Haley..."
