Chapter 997
After breakfast, Camilla and Nicole headed back to The Jenkins Mansion.
Nicole couldn't stop talking the whole way. "I can't believe Mr. Winston actually likes you. I'm just a little less attractive than you. Why doesn't he notice me?"
Camilla gave her a sideways glance. "If you're really into Mr. Winston, I can set up a few more meetings for you."
Having lived with Nicole for three years, Camilla knew she wasn't the sharpest tool in the shed.
Nicole had her flaws, but she wasn't beyond saving.
If Nicole really liked Ivan, Camilla could create some opportunities. Mostly, she just wanted to get some space for herself.
"Forget it," Nicole pouted. "Mr. Winston is a divorced guy with kids. Not my type!"
With Ivan's cold demeanor, she'd probably freeze to death if she were with him.
Sure, she was vain, but she didn't want to live miserably!
Camilla and Nicole chatted all the way to The Jenkins Mansion. As soon as they got out of the car, Sawyer, who had been taken away yesterday, came up to them. "Mr. Winston didn't give you a hard time, did he?"
"Uncle Sawyer, were you treated well in jail?" Camilla asked. "Did they just let you go like that?"
"They even apologized to me," Sawyer frowned. "Mr. Winston's assistant personally came to get me out and explained it was all a misunderstanding. To make it up to the Jenkins family, the Winston Group is willing to collaborate on a Watertown project."
Odette said in a deep voice, "Could it be a new trap?"
This whole thing had the Jenkins family so spooked they couldn't think positively.
Patrick shook his head. "If the Winston Group really wanted to mess with us, why go to such lengths?"
He looked at Camilla. "Did Mr. Winston say anything today?"
"Mr. Winston was super polite," Nicole, though unhappy, told the truth. "He couldn't take his eyes off Camilla. He must have apologized to the Jenkins family for her sake. Uncle Sawyer, the Watertown project shouldn't be a trap. Because Mr. Winston is focusing on pleasing Camilla, not on causing trouble."
Nicole's words left the Jenkins family somewhat shocked. They didn't expect it to be true that Ivan came for Camilla.
For Camilla, Ivan traveled all the way to Brussville and went to great lengths to set up this plan, showing how much he cared for her.
"This is a good thing!" Samantha held Camilla's hand. "You are so outstanding, a perfect match for the president of the Winston Group. Now I can rest easy!"
Nicole snorted. "Mom, what are you thinking? Maybe Mr. Winston is just playing around."
Patrick's face darkened.
If Camilla really went to Watertown and stayed by Ivan's side, her background would definitely be exposed. By then, the Jenkins family would truly be finished.
"Camilla, are you really going to be Mr. Winston's secretary?" Patrick asked.
Camilla nodded. "I've already signed the contract. I'll start in half a month."
"The Winston Group's project also starts in half a month," Sawyer said. "By then, Micah will go to Watertown with you. You can look out for each other."
"I want to go too!" Nicole's eyes lit up. "I've never been to Watertown. I want to go with Micah and Camilla to see the world."
Samantha pulled Nicole aside. "Isn't it good to stay in Brussville?"
"I just want to have some fun," Nicole pouted. "With Micah watching over me, you can rest easy."
The matter was tentatively decided.
