Chapter 797
Returning to the Winston family, Haley recounted the events concerning the Lumi family to Ivan.
Ivan embraced her and whispered, "No matter whose daughter you are, you are my wife, and no one can change that."
He didn't care about her father; he'd love her regardless of her background, even if she were an orphan.
Haley leaned against Ivan's firm chest. "Cauth invited me to the Lumi family for dinner tomorrow. I'll go and find out what's really going on between Cauth and my mother."
"I'll go with you," Ivan said, embracing her tighter.
"No need, I'll just take the kids," Haley said, caressing his face. "Although Martin himself has lost his freedom, many of his subordinates are still deeply rooted in Watertown. You need to deal with them, so don't worry too much about me."
Should the henchmen discover Martin's replacement by Ivan, considerable unrest might arise.
If a peaceful resolution could be achieved, drastic measures would not be necessary.
"Then I'll take you there," Ivan said, his hands starting to wander over her body. "Is that okay?"
Haley's face turned red.
Even if she said no, Ivan wouldn't stop.
She hummed softly, "Can you hold back?"
"No."
Ivan passionately kissed Haley.
At that moment, the sound of the doorknob suddenly resounded.
In almost a second, Ivan left Haley, and she quickly sat up, grabbing a book to pretend to read.
Angela pushed the door open and walked in, looking pitiful. "Mommy, Owen is bullying me."
Ivan's face darkened. "Owen, come here!"
Owen, hiding outside the door, explained in a small voice, "I didn't bully Angela, really. Keith can testify!"
Keith said calmly, "Angela wanted to eat the chocolate on the chocolate cake, and Owen ate all the chocolate in one go."
"Owen is the worst!" Angela climbed into Ivan's arms. "Daddy, can you go buy me a chocolate cake now?"
Ivan glanced at the night outside. It was already nine o'clock. Although it wasn't too late for adults, he had more important things to do.
He coughed and said, "Alfred, take Angela to buy chocolate."
Alfred's voice came from downstairs, "Mr. Winston, Angela won't let me accompany her."
"I want Daddy to take me to buy chocolate," Angela said, clinging to Ivan's collar and acting spoiled.
Haley put down the book and said earnestly, "Angela, you can't eat sugar at night, or little bugs will crawl into your teeth, and your beautiful teeth will have lots of holes. A princess's teeth don't have holes. Do you still want to be a beautiful princess?"
"But I just want to eat it."
Angela lowered her head, feeling very wronged.
Owen seized the opportunity to clear his name. "I knew Angela couldn't eat sugar at night, so I ate all the chocolate. I wasn't bullying Angela."
Haley looked at him. "Angela can't eat sugar, but you can? Your teeth and mouth are all black. Go brush your teeth."
Owen covered his mouth and ran off.
"Angela, you can have chocolate, but you'll have to wait until tomorrow," Haley said sternly, "It's already very late. Go back to your room and sleep."
Angela looked at Ivan with a pitiful glance.
Usually, Ivan would unconditionally agree to any of her requests at this time.
But today, Ivan had to ignore Angela's tearful glance today due to more urgent matters.
Angela lowered her head and walked away pitifully, even closing the door obediently.
Haley breathed a sigh of relief. She locked the door, and returned to the bed, only to be pinned down by Ivan as soon as she got on.
Ivan held her intimately and forcefully, making her legs suddenly go weak.
