Chapter 685
"If you can't handle it, take him to the club and find some women to take care of him. Do I really need to teach you this?" Martin sneered. "I'm very busy today. Don't call me again."
He hung up the phone and glanced at the time. It was already 11 AM.
The kids shouldn't be sleeping this late.
A sense of unease suddenly crept into Martin's heart.
He opened the car door and got out, hesitating to ring the doorbell for fear of waking up the people inside.
Rolling up his sleeves, he swiftly scaled the villa's iron gate.
Entering the balcony, he found a piece of wire, with which he unlocked the balcony lock. He gently pushed open the glass door and quietly stepped inside.
The sunlight outside was blocked by the curtains, casting the room in dim light. Martin kicked aside the toys on the ground and headed upstairs.
He wondered, 'If I suddenly appeared in front of Haley, would she be more frightened or more surprised?'
Most likely, she would be more frightened.
After all, Haley hated him, hated him for causing Ivan's death.
"Forget it, and I shouldn't scare her like this," he muttered to himself.
Just as he reached the main bedroom door, Martin stopped. He pressed his lips together and turned to go downstairs.
However, his steps came to an abrupt halt as he passed by the guest room.
The bed in the guest room was neatly made, indicating that no one had slept there last night.
A coldness swept over Martin's eyes in an instant.
He walked to the main bedroom door, took a deep breath, and forcefully pushed it open.
The dimly lit main bedroom was empty. The bed was neatly made, and there was no clothing on the hangers.
He strode in and opened the closet door, revealing only two bathrobes, with all other clothes missing.
Martin smirked coldly, muttering, "Haley, well done!"
He took out his phone and started dialing as he walked downstairs.
The empty villa suddenly echoed with the sound of a vibrating phone.
Following the sound, Martin discovered the vibrating phone in the living room's trash bin.
Haley had actually discarded her phone.
"Why would she throw away her phone?" muttered Martin.
Martin's eyes darkened further as he overturned the trash can, spilling out several items. Besides Haley's phone, there were four children's smartwatches.
His face grew even darker.
This indicated that Haley wanted to hide her whereabouts and deliberately avoid him.
So, where would Haley take the four kids to?
Images from last night flashed through Martin's mind. That quiet Haley, he thought she had come to terms with things, accepted reality.
Martin sneered and thought, 'It turns out she had had an escape plan.'
Haley had been planning to escape.
Martin wondered why she want to run away.
He never intended to kill her, let alone the children. She should know he wouldn't be that cruel.
The train of thoughts ran through his mind. 'Why did Haley suddenly decide to run away last night? Would she really give up everything in Watertown so easily?'
Martin pondered for a few seconds, his face suddenly changing. He kicked the coffee table in the living room, spilling the breakfast he had brought in a thermos all over the carpet, creating a mess.
He took out his phone and made a call.
Katherine stood at the entrance of her trashed studio, looking at her hard work destroyed. She was furious.
But now, with her reputation in Watertown tarnished, she was akin to a rat in a corner, unable to keep her studio operational.
All she could do was wait—wait for Haley to relent, or wait for Martin to recognize her value.
