Chapter 816 Haley's Back
Ava sneered, thinking, 'Instruction? Haley must be dreaming!
'I can't wait to see Haley make a fool of herself! How can I possibly teach her?
'However, Haley, the former beauty queen of Watertown, has disfigured. In three days, many people attending the banquet will surely come to laugh at her.'
Thinking of this, Ava started laughing again.
"You still have the mood," Hollis walked down and glanced at her indifferently, "Did you know Haley's back to the Lumi Family?"
Ava nodded dismissively. "So what if she's back? She's just a bird that flew high and fell hard. I'm not afraid of her."
"Just be careful," Hollis replied in a low voice. "You've only got a month left in your trial period before officially becoming the heir of the Lumi Group. If something goes wrong in that time, your grandfather might rethink everything."
Ava's eyes widened in alarm. "You're saying Haley came back to cause trouble for me?"
"It's possible, so keep your guard up. I'll have someone keep an eye on Haley too," he added, twisting his fingers together with a conspiratorial glint in his eyes.
Meanwhile, after returning home with her four kids, Haley began preparing dinner. The children adored her homemade meals, and she took great pleasure in creating nutritious dishes for them.
Just as she tied her apron and headed for the kitchen, she noticed a sleek red luxury car pull up at the villa—a vehicle she'd never seen before.
Alfred stepped forward respectfully, opening the door. A regal woman emerged from the driver's seat.
Haley recognized her immediately—it was Ruby Winston, Ivan's aunt, whom she had met on her wedding day.
Ivan had an uncle and an aunt; his aunt had married and moved abroad years ago, making her visits rare. Haley had never met her until now. Ivan's uncle, Landon Winston, managed the largest subsidiary of the Winston Group.
Since Ivan's father had passed away early and his mother, Brenda, had been living abroad, the families hadn't interacted much. Lately, with Brenda residing in Watertown, Ruby had dropped by occasionally, but this was Haley's first encounter with her.
Haley stepped forward with a smile. "Ruby, what a nice surprise! What brings you here?"
Ruby returned the smile warmly. "Someone gifted me some lovely coffee beans, and I thought I'd bring it by for Brenda. How's she doing? Is she feeling any better?"
Brenda had been locking herself away in her room, and Haley feared that if things kept going this way, she might end up with illness. Having a peer to talk to would do her good.
Haley accepted the coffee beans. "She's resting upstairs. Ruby, why don't you head up? I'll brew the coffee and have someone bring it up shortly."
"Thanks, I appreciate it," Ruby said and made her way to the second floor. She gently knocked on Brenda's door.
"Come in," Brenda called weakly.
Ruby stepped inside and was taken aback by Brenda's pale, makeup-free face. "Brenda, you're looking worse than before! What on earth happened?"
The last time Ruby had visited was about two weeks ago, when Ivan and Haley had been having marital problems, and there were rumors swirling that Haley had vanished. She hadn't gathered much then since Brenda had been ill. This time, hearing that Ivan and Haley were back together, she thought things might have improved, but instead, it seemed Brenda was sicker than ever.
