264 Emily Mistaken the Piano was for Her

Owen ended the call and stomped back downstairs to continue eating. Meanwhile, still holding the phone, Keith glanced at the staff member nearby. "How much longer?"

"Twenty minutes," the employee replied eagerly. "Our manager personally stepped in to expedite your order from the overseas factory after your call yesterday. This piano just left the factory. It was in high demand, and it's only thanks to our manager's clout that we could secure it for you. Just wait a little longer, Mr. Keith. It will be delivered soon." Keith nodded in acknowledgment.

After learning Angela was delighted playing the piano, he called to reserve one.

The display models at the piano store were merely standard grade. For a top-notch piano, a particular order from the manufacturer was necessary.

Fortunately, he acted quickly, or else this piano would have been snatched up by someone else.

He was hoping this piano would be a perfect introductory gift for Angela.

"Mr. Keith, your piano has arrived."

A delivery truck pulled up to the storefront, its rear doors opening to reveal a gleaming black instrument.

Keith was pressed for time and couldn't bother with a thorough inspection. He said, "How much is it?"

The cashier smiled and said, "It’s 65,900."

Keith nodded. "Please have it delivered."

As the staff were about to close the truck's rear doors, a figure appeared at the storefront.

Emily walked in.

The piano she previously bought was ruined, and now she had to purchase another.

After being kicked out by Ivan, she almost gave up piano for good, but a heart-to-heart with Flora inspired her to redouble her efforts.

"Emily, when Keith encouraged you to learn piano, it was because he wanted you to be worthy of his mother's title. He's doing it for your good. How could you let down Keith's earnest efforts? After Ivan has barred you from the Winstons, what other reason will you have to keep in touch with the Winstons if you give up the piano? Keith and Owen are your sons. Don’t let a moment of spite cause you to neglect them. Remember, no matter what happens, your status won't change. Keep that in mind!"

Emily took a deep breath and continued forward.

Looking up, she spotted Keith's figure and the piano in the truck.

A surge of ecstatic joy flashed in her eyes.

It looked like Keith was buying a new piano for her.

She had raised his son right!

"Keith!"

Emily walked briskly toward him.

Hearing her voice caused Keith to frown.

Even though this woman was his mother, there was an undeniable aversion deep down.

He had hidden it well, causing everyone to assume he held high regard for his mother.

Keith pursed his lips and said calmly, "Mother."

Emily squatted before him, touching his shoulders, her voice brimming with joy. "Keith, I knew you're the best to me. I knew you will always be on my side. Don't worry. I'll practice diligently and live up to your expectations."

"It's good that you feel this way. I must be going now. I have other matters to attend to."
Keith shrugged off Emily's touch and strode out without looking back.

Startled, Emily hurried after him. "Keith, weren’t you going to deliver the piano to the DeRoss residence? Let's go together."
