Chapter 92 Trap

The assistant immediately agreed, "Yes, I'll do it right away."

...

Haley took the records and returned to her own studio. The DeRoss Group's books were meticulously kept, and at a glance, there seemed to be no errors whatsoever.

She took a picture of the books and sent it to Thomas: "Find the loopholes in the books within three hours."

"Haley, I've already graduated from the finance department. Isn't it too much to ask me to look at the books again?" Thomas replied.

"This isn't an exam, it's the DeRoss Group's books. There's a prize for finding loopholes," Haley replied and stopped paying attention to her phone. She opened her computer and started writing code.

The A-F project wasn't actually complicated. The main challenge was in the design, with a few intricate points. If they weren't clarified, they would fall into the mainstream and overlap with existing products in the market.

Haley was busy until 5 o'clock when she prepared to go to the preschool. But just then, she received a call. Glancing at the screen, she smiled and answered, "Mr. Bailey."

"Ms. DeRoss, I've already sent the electronic contract to your email. It will take effect once you electronically sign it," Mr. Bailey said.

"Thank you, Mr. Bailey," Haley replied as she continued walking. "After the DeRoss Group's shareholder meeting tomorrow, I'll treat you to a meal."

"Ms. DeRoss, that's too kind of you. It's just a small gesture, how can I accept your thanks?" Mr. Bailey paused and added, "An hour ago, the assistant to the general manager of the DeRoss Group contacted me and said they wanted to have dinner with me privately. How do you think I should handle this?"

The general manager of the DeRoss Group was Emily, which means she sent her assistant to approach someone from the Roscente Group. The intention is clear.

Haley sneered, "Cuenca's specialty dishes are good. Mr. Bailey, you should try them tonight."

"Alright, I'll follow your lead," Mr. Bailey replied.

...

At the DeRoss Group, Emily’s assistant had news.

"Emily, Mr. Bailey agreed to dinner!" the assistant happily burst into Emily's office. "It's at 7:30 in the evening."

Emily's frustration dissipated instantly. After so many unlucky days, finally something good happened. She paced back and forth in her office several times, lips pursed.

"I shouldn't go personally for this. You should go to the meeting alone. Remember, you must convince Mr. Bailey to reject cooperation with the DeRoss Group!"

"I understand!" the assistant calmly said before heading to the appointment. Emily waited for news the entire evening. At 9 o'clock, the assistant called.

"Emily, I spoke with Mr. Bailey. He said the Roscente Group plans to collaborate with the Hill family and hasn't considered the DeRoss Group. Haley lost the bet, and won't be able to rejoining the board, you can rest now.”

"You handled this matter beautifully. I will transfer the money to your account tomorrow." After hanging up the phone, Emily smiled. Driving Haley out of the boardroom was only the first step; next, she would gradually reclaim Haley's shares.

The following morning, Emily arrived at the company feeling refreshed and invigorated. It was the third day of the bet, and a board meeting was held as an exception, there was a lively atmosphere at the meeting room entrance.

Some people who knew the insider information had already spread some rumors.

"I heard that the Roscente Group and the Hill family signed a contract..."

"I always said that the Roscente Group would never cooperate with the DeRoss Group. Only Haley would dare to have such a daydream!"
