Chapter291
Haley's piercing gaze settled on the reporter who spoke.
"What, the public can't be fooled, so they have to label some man as the father of my children forcibly?" Her voice cut like ice. "Just because I don't acknowledge Jeremy as my kids' dad, am I offending the public? How does that make sense?"
She raised her arm, her slender finger casually pointing, "Have you heard my children call Jeremy 'Daddy'? Have you seen a paternity test report with your eyes?
"And you, have you witnessed any wrongdoing on my part to interfere with Mr. Jeremy's marriage or seen any intent of mine to become Mrs. Jeremy?
"You—based on a single photo, you've deduced the nature of my relationship with Jeremy. Is that the kind of headline news the Orange Press runs with?"
The reporters found themselves speechless, not just from the sharpness of her questions but also from the commanding presence she exuded.
"Let me say it again. I have no relationship with Jeremy. If I must label our connection, it would be as potential business partners," Haley spoke indifferently. "In those pictures, Jeremy is seeking a business collaboration with me. I didn't agree on the spot, hence his repeated attempts to meet me, leading to this huge misunderstanding."
Finally, one of the reporters managed to gather his wits and challenged her, "Chase Group is a well-known big corporation in the capital. With Mr. Jeremy investing in Cuenca, plenty of companies would kill for a chance to partner with Chase Group. Why would Mr. Jeremy possibly be seeking multiple collaborations with you? As far as I know, Star Technical Company was established just over a month ago, and the scale of your company is quite small. It doesn't seem likely that Chase Group would choose to collaborate with such a company."
"Though small, our company's chips are second to none," Haley said with a light clap. At her cue, two employees stepped forward, each holding a computer with a virtual depiction of the inside of a factory on the screen.
Haley stood up, carelessly tapping at the keyboard, and began to inform those gathered, "This here is our flagship chip, designed specifically for the contemporary issues faced by many mechanical manufacturing plants. From what I know, these factories often hire a rotation of workers to closely monitor their boilers amidst extreme heat and possibly even near reactors, which can be incredibly harmful to human health. The monotony of the task can lead to fatigue."
She spoke confidently, and the room fell silent.
This was a press conference and a live broadcast, leaving the online audience completely stunned.
"Dude, isn't this supposed to be a news conference? Why does it feel like a sales pitch?"
"Haley is such a savvy businesswoman. Despite being mired in scandal and facing harsh criticism online, she's turned the situation around to promote her company. With skills like that, how can her small business not thrive?"
"Guys, listen to what she's saying about the chip—it's seriously impressive. We've needed something like this for our family's business, and there's been nothing like it on the market."
"Please, wake up. Your family doesn't own a factory!"
In just ten minutes, Haley completed her presentation of the company's inaugural product.
Looking up with a smile toward the camera, she said, "For those interested, feel free to call our marketing department—contact details are right here on the display board."
She then glanced at the reporters. "Unless you have any questions, I'll be on my way."
"Wait a moment!" A reporter from the front row who had finally regained his composure called out.
He could have slapped himself for the oversight.
The plan was to corner Haley for an exclusive story, but they had unwittingly been manipulated into promoting her product.
"Haley, you deny Mr. Jeremy as the father of your child. Can you tell us who the real father is?"
With a slight twist of her beautiful eyes and a light chuckle, Haley replied, "Our nation's laws ensure every citizen's right to privacy, so I don't feel compelled to disclose that to you."
Having said that, she didn't leave but stood there with a serene smile as if waiting for the reporters to ask more questions.
