Chapter 12 Are you a human or a ghost?
This is Pink Seaside Club, a recreational place in the outskirts. Pink Seaside Club is where the high-ranking officials and wealthy people of Cuenca often gather for leisure activities.
It’s not surprising to see them.
Here, the people are wealthy and well-respected.
A group of people are fishing by the river.
“Ivan, what’s going on? Why are all the fish going straight to your fishing rod? The rest of us haven’t caught a single fish!”
Louis Granger glanced at Ivan’s bucket and complained indignantly.
Ivan sat calmly by the shore.
He was wearing casual clothes, and the early spring sun shone on him, with a gentle breeze making him even more handsome.
Luckily, there were no women here, otherwise there would definitely be screams of astonishment.
Louis sneered, “Damn, you’re not allowed to come to my house anymore!”
His little sister, only fifteen years old, was completely captivated by Ivan. What a disaster…
Just as Louis turned his head, he suddenly froze and then shouted, “Holy crap, no one ever mentioned that there are mermaids in this river!”
Mark Varley looked at him in disdain, saying, “Could you please keep it down? You’re scaring away my fish!”
“Forget about fishing, you guys need to take a look, is there really a mermaid in the water?”
Everyone saw that he didn’t seem to be lying and turned their gazes towards the river.
Sure enough, in the clear water, there was a woman!
“Could it be that the club owner paid someone to play the mermaid?”
“If she was paid, they should at least wear a mermaid costume…”
As the discussions went on, the woman in the water suddenly looked up.
She emerged from the water, her fair face shimmering with droplets, radiating a dazzling brilliance under the sunlight.
“Damn! She’s beautiful!”
“She’s so stunning! Does Cuenca really have such attractive girls?”
“Do any of you feel like this woman’s face looks somewhat familiar?”
“Forget it, Louis, you’re a playboy who thinks every beauty looks familiar…”
Just as Haley raised her head from the water, she heard voices speaking.
They were a bit far away and she couldn’t quite make out what they were saying.
But she had already swum several hundred meters, exhausted and needing to get ashore.
She propped herself up with the green stone on the bank and with a flip, climbed up.
The woman’s wet hair draped over her shoulders, appearing like a lotus emerging from the water, enchantingly beautiful.
Her fair skin seemed translucent under the sunlight, as if infused with powder, creating an unreal sensation.
Her eyes were like autumn water, and her lips were adorned with droplets, like a painting.
And her clothing clung tightly to her figure, accentuating her curves.
All the men on the bank were dumbstruck.
“Damn! She’s incredibly beautiful!”
“Oh my god, I’m going to get a nosebleed!”
“I definitely know her!” Louis said with wide eyes, “I’m certain I’ve seen her!”
As soon as he finished speaking, a chorus of hushed whispers arose.
Hearing the guys next to him discussing the woman’s figure, Ivan inexplicably felt a hint of disgust in his heart.
Without thinking, he threw down the fishing rod and walked down the stone steps, heading straight towards the riverbank.
Then—
To the astonishment of everyone, he took off his black coat and draped it over Haley.
“Ivan is so cunning, he’s even faster than me!” Louis gritted his teeth.
“I thought Ivan wasn’t interested in women, why is he running faster than anyone today?”
“Who said he wasn’t interested in women? If he didn’t like women, where did his sons come from, did he jump out of a rock?”
Everyone suddenly realized that Ivan had two sons.
Because this guy had hidden his sons so well, even their group of childhood friends rarely saw the two children.
So, they always forgot the fact that Ivan already had sons.
Haley was trying to figure out which direction to go when suddenly a man, who seemed to be chilled to the bone, appeared in front of her.
And then, he wrapped a coat around her.
She recognized him, it was Ivan whom she had encountered on the road yesterday.
Thinking about the man’s arrogant attitude yesterday, Haley’s expression turned cold as well.
“No need, thank you,” she frowned.
She was about to take off the coat.
Ivan looked coldly in his eyes, “The riverbank is full of hungry wolves, if you’re not afraid, you can go without it.”
Haley wanted to say that she was already wearing clothes.
But the clothes were wet and clinging to her body, it felt as if… there was no difference between being naked and clothed.
She pursed her lips and said calmly, “How much is this coat worth?”
Ivan raised an eyebrow, “Why?”
“Of course, it’s better to settle things with strangers.” Haley took out her wallet from her wet pocket and threw a stack of wet money into Ivan’s arms.
“Mr. Winston, please keep it.”
After saying that, she walked ashore without looking back.
Ivan's aura suddenly turned cold. He held the wet money in his arms and a cold smile appeared on his lips.
This was the first time he had been hit with money. This woman really didn't know what's good for her!
If it hadn't been for their chance encounter yesterday, how could he have taken off his clothes and draped them over her?
Ivan sneered.
With a quick glance, he saw a group of brothers on the shore surrounding Haley.
His eyebrows grew even colder as he quickly followed.
Haley was surrounded by seven or eight men, but there was no sign of embarrassment or discomfort on her face.
Her gaze slowly scanned every person in the vicinity.
The second son of the Granger family, Louis Granger.
The heir of the Varley family, Mark Varley.
All of them were prominent figures in the aristocratic circle.
Five years ago, before she had an accident, she had met these people in person.
However, these people all thought she was dead. It is unimaginable that standing in front of them was Haley DeRoss, who had supposedly died four years ago.
"Miss, what are you doing in the river?" Louis quickly approached to strike up a conversation, "Your clothes are all wet, let me take you to the mall to buy a new set, okay?"
Since Ivan couldn't conquer this beauty, he would leave it to him. After all, he had been conquering the realms of love for so many years, there was no woman he couldn't win over!
However!
Haley didn't even give him a glance and coldly replied, "Get out of my way."
"Miss, we have reserved this venue for today. There's no way I can move aside, right?" Louis approached with a smug smile, "Tell me your name and give me your contact information, then I'll let you go."
The next second!
There was a scream resembling that of a slaughtered pig.
No one saw how it happened, only that Louis was thrown onto the ground in a pitiful state.
Haley disdainfully clapped her hands, "Mr. Granger, you are still as shameless and low as before."
She kicked Louis away with one foot and walked away.
