Chapter 319

<Chapter>Chapter 319</Chapter>
After dropping the kids at preschool, Haley drove straight to the Winston residence at eight in the morning. She sat in the car, noticed Ivan's car wasn't there, and then stepped out to head toward the house.

The early morning yard was deserted, with not a servant in sight.

Standing outside the fence, Haley pressed the doorbell.

"Haley! What brings you here? Come on in, quickly." Alfred came to the door, thrilled to see her standing outside.

The house had been gloomy ever since the young masters had had a huge fight the night before.

Haley's visit would certainly cheer up Owen.

With a beaming smile, Alfred instructed a servant to serve tea to Haley and said, "Owen's still in bed; I'll go wake him."

Without a word, Haley sat quietly in the living room, sipping her tea.

"What? Haley's here? Alfred, you're not joking, are you?"

A surprised and muffled voice came from upstairs, the sleepy tone like a soft marshmallow.

A gentle smile curled on Haley's lips.

She looked up to see Owen barefoot on the stairs, hurrying down.

"Be careful, don't fall," Haley said, quickly rising to meet him. "Why aren't you wearing slippers? The floor's cold."

Blinking, Owen pinched himself hard, his face contorting with pain, yet he cheered jubilantly. "Wow! I'm not dreaming! Haley really came to see me! Wow, I'm so happy!"

He bounded into Haley's arms.

Haley's heart had never felt so tender.

Her hand slowly brushed over Owen's eyebrows, his eyes, and then his lips. She hadn't noticed how much he resembled Angela.

"Haley..." Owen looked up at her, his voice sweet and longing.

Haley gazed at him with tenderness and asked softly, "Owen, can I ask when your birthday is?"

"I don't remember." Owen cocked his head to one side. "Alfred says that as soon as summer arrives, it will be my birthday. Haley, are you planning to celebrate it for me?"

Alfred came over with a beaming smile. "Owen's birthday is on May 20th, right at the start of summer."

May 20th.

Haley's fingers clenched involuntarily.

The irony was thick; both Todd's and Angela's birthdays fell on May 20 as well.

That night, she had labored painfully in the storeroom while Emily watched from outside with chilling detachment.

Emily could never have children.

Even though Haley had suspected the truth, facing it now seemed surreal.

Who would have thought that children who were presumed dead at birth were actually pawns in Emily's delusional plot to marry into the Winston family.

"Owen." Haley pulled him into a tight embrace, her eyes suddenly rimmed with red.

Her children, the ones she believed had died too early, was alive.

Her boys had been alive all along.

All the hatred buried in her heart evaporated in that instant.

For all of Emily's malicious scheming, at least she had saved two lives. She had even brought the boys to the Winston family, to their biological father.

Haley's sons are both so exceptional. She could not harbor hatred anymore. She had to be thankful.
