Keith skimmed through the news and quickly understood the situation. The severe downturn was caused by financial heavyweights manipulating the market with substantial capital.
Recalling the events from last night, he paused, reflecting on what had transpired.
The turmoil at the DeRoss Group seemed suspiciously connected to Ivan's actions.
He pulled out his cell phone and dialed Felix. "I'm fine... Move all the liquid assets from the company accounts and buy up DeRoss Group stock, every single share you can."
"The DeRoss Group's stock hit rock bottom last night and is still dropping this morning. Many people are trapped, unable to sell their shares. Early this morning, irate shareholders swarmed the company. This is not the time to buy their stock..."
Keith cut him off. "With the stock price plummeting this much, buying up all the outstanding shares will only cost tens of millions. Get on it immediately!"
Felix's tone was firm, leaving no room for argument.
Reluctantly, Felix ceased his attempts to dissuade him. After ending the call, he focused on acquiring the shares.
In the midst of plummeting share prices, selling was challenging, but buying was straightforward during such times. Hence, this task was relatively easy to accomplish.
Keith shut down his computer, ready to freshen up.
However, Owen blocked his path. "Keith, how could you do this?"
Keith looked at him, perplexed. "Do what?"
"Emily kidnapped you yesterday, and she almost killed you. Why would you help the DeRoss Group?!" Owen gritted his teeth. "If she were our biological mother, it would be one thing, but she's not! She's a bad person! If it weren't for her, we wouldn't have been separated from Haley for four whole years! How can you even think about buying stock in the DeRoss Group? You should watch as they fold and go bankrupt!!"
Keith couldn't help but let out a scoff. "You think I'm buying stocks right now to help the DeRoss Group?"
Owen was puffing with anger. "What else?"
"Emily used to be the largest shareholder of the DeRoss Group," continued Keith. "But ever since Haley came back to Cuenca, she transferred twenty-five percent to Haley's name."
Keith felt a wave of shyness when he mentioned Haley's name, yet he smoothly called it out.
"The DeRoss Group is on the verge of bankruptcy. If I buy the approximately thirty percent of the shares that are being dumped and then give them to Haley, she will become the majority shareholder. Essentially, she will be taking over the DeRoss Group," Keith explained nonchalantly. "If you don't understand, don't worry about it. I'm going to brush my teeth."
Owen pursed his lips in response.
