Camilla believed that Nicole was genuinely unintelligent.
It was clear Ivan had it out for her, but that was just her hunch.
This was a perfect chance to use Nicole to gauge Ivan's intentions.
Plus, Camilla needed to figure out where the Jenkins family stood and if they were worth the trouble.
"Alright," Camilla nodded. "I'll take you to see Mr. Winston tomorrow."
"Let's talk about this later!" Patrick, who was driving, cut in and sped up. They soon pulled up to the Jenkins Mansion.
As they walked in, Brady rushed over. "Uncle Patrick, did you meet Mr. Winston?"
Patrick nodded, looking pretty grim.
Odette quickly got up and walked over. "Patrick, what did they say?"
"Mr. Winston wants someone to be his secretary, and he'll let the Jenkins family off the hook," Nicole blurted out. "I already agreed."
Samantha looked confused, "I don't get it."
Patrick shot Nicole a glare and explained, "Mr. Winston asked Nicole and me to leave, leaving only Camilla to talk. She came out an hour later and passed on Mr. Winston's message. If Camilla becomes his secretary, he'll spare the Jenkins family."
Everyone in the yard was stunned.
Odette stared at Camilla's pretty face and shut her eyes tight. "This is messed up!"
"I was against adopting Camilla from the start, but you insisted!" Elara snapped. "How could she be innocent with a face like that? If we hadn't adopted her, would Mr. Winston be after the Jenkins family? He must've planned this to get Camilla."
Camilla kept her lips sealed.
The Jenkins family wasn't dumb; at least half of them had figured out what was going on.
"Aunt Elara, I don't get what you're saying." Nicole looked confused, "It was Camilla who used her looks to seduce Mr. Winston. How could it be that Mr. Winston planned this on purpose?"
The news reported that Ivan was the man every woman in Watertown wanted to marry. Despite being divorced and having kids, these women still desired him.
Why would he go to such lengths for Camilla?
"You're really not that bright." Brady sneered, "A big shot like Mr. Winston came to Brussville specifically to target the Jenkins family. He must want something. Today Mr. Winston already told us what he wants."
"Don't jump to conclusions." Samantha's face went a bit pale, "Camilla's never been to Watertown. This doesn't add up."
Samantha insisted on adopting Camilla. If Ivan targeted the Jenkins family then she would be to blame.
"Isn't Camilla's company going to the internet expo in Watertown?" Elara said angrily, "Maybe Mr. Winston saw her materials and was smitten. That's why he came to Brussville to target the Jenkins family."
Micah frowned. "With Mr. Winston's wealth, why wouldn't he just come and propose directly?"
This made everyone go quiet again.
A guy like Ivan, admired by so many, could easily get Camilla. Why go through all this trouble?
"Anyway, Mr. Winston wants Camilla to be his secretary now." Elara's gaze turned icy. "Camilla, for the sake of the Jenkins family, are you willing?"
Camilla pressed her lips together and stayed silent. Her clear eyes glowed faintly as she slowly looked at everyone.
