Chapter 359
All at once, she felt a searing heat against her thighs.
Haley froze in place. She wasn't an innocent girl; she was twenty-three years old and a mother of four children. She knew exactly what the man was pressing against her buttocks. As unidentified people lurked in the yard outside, Ivan had the gall to...
Haley's face turned so red. Clenching her jaw, she slowly lifted her gaze and shot Ivan a fierce look. Strikingly beautiful, her eyes, reflecting the living room's chandelier, resembled a galaxy bursting with stars. Her dark pupils mirrored his silhouette, sending a wave of heat through Ivan's lower abdomen.
His hand, growing hotter, tightened its grip around her slender waist. He bowed his head slightly, his Adam's apple bobbing as he fought to control a certain physical craving. But some physiological responses were blatantly obvious.
"You!" Haley glared at him, wanting to say Something but finding herself speechless.
Pushing against Ivan's chest, she finally managed to thrust herself away from his heated embrace. After stepping back, her peripheral vision caught a glimpse of Something she wished she hadn't seen. The neat lines of the man's dress pants had a protuberance.
Generally composed, Haley was now visibly upset. She turned away and said evenly, "You have one minute."
Ivan has never been in a situation like this before either., feeling like a shameless rogue. He walked over to the dining table and downed a glass of cold water. The scorching heat gradually subsided from his body. Once he felt normal again, he approached the window.
Haley had calmed down. With a slight purse of her lips, she said calmly, "Let's go. I'll see you out."
Opening the door by the window, they crossed the small balcony and made their way through the side door to the yard. Just a few steps later and under the lush canopy of a large tree, Haley immediately sensed not just one person in the tree but two.
With lip-reading precision, she asked, "Can you handle one?"
Ivan nodded and lip-read back, "Go inside. Leave them both to me."
How could Haley go inside? She was physically fit enough to handle one person, but two would be a stretch. However, with the kids asleep in the house, she didn't want to take any risks, preferring that each of them take on one intruder.
Before she could respond, Ivan suddenly pulled her behind him for protection. Then, swiftly, he grabbed a clothes pole propped against the villa's corner and swung it powerfully toward the treetop.
"Whoosh, whoosh!"
Leaves fluttered down, followed by two figures who were forced to the ground.
Two men, clad in black night gear, their faces masked, and only a pair of sad eyes visible crept silently into the shadows.
Ivan wielded a clothes rod as a weapon and plunged straight into a melee. Both assailants' knees took heavy blows, leaving them weakened and collapsed onto the ground.
Haley stepped forward, her foot pressing down on the hands of the two men in black.
She wore high heels, and she ground down hard, causing so much pain that the men nearly passed out.
"Who sent you?" she demanded, her voice sharp.
"We're just passing by!"
