Chapter 706
Leonardo felt a sudden wave of sadness, though he couldn't pinpoint why.
After a moment, he said calmly, "Finding someone in Hinterlands isn't hard, but it'll draw attention from other forces. I need a few days to think it over."
Haley expected this. She smiled slightly. "Alright, I'll wait for your reply."
She nodded at Leonardo and left the room.
As soon as Haley stepped out, Isabel, dressed to the nines, blocked her path.
Isabel's emerald eyes blazed with anger. She hissed, "You're married, yet you're trying to seduce my fiancé. How low can you go?"
"Miss Spencer, watch your words," Haley replied coldly. "Mr. Windsor and I were discussing business. Don't project your dirty thoughts onto us."
"Discussing business behind closed doors," Isabel spat, her voice shaking with rage. "Stay away from my fiancé, or I'll have someone slash your face."
Haley chuckled. "Of course, the door was closed to keep you out. Maybe you should think about why your fiancé is so wary of you."
Isabel was fuming.
Haley gave her a cold glance, walked over to Thomas, and said calmly, "He needs a few days to consider. Let's go."
Thomas sighed in relief. "Alright, let's go home."
On the way, Thomas seemed hesitant. When they reached the door, he finally asked, "Haley, did Leonardo make any strange requests?"
Haley laughed lightly. "What are you thinking? He doubts my capabilities and needs time to consider. Don't overthink it."
As they approached the villa, the door opened from the inside.
Keith and Todd stood there, dressed neatly.
"Mommy, you're back just in time!" Owen complained, "Keith and Todd are going out without taking Angela and me. I'm so mad."
Haley asked, "It's almost dinner time. Where are you two going?"
Angela blinked. "Keith and Todd said they were meeting a friend."
"You made friends so quickly?" Thomas was surprised. "I didn't know you two were so social."
"It's an online friend," Owen added. "Keith met him online. What's his name again?"
Todd quickly covered Owen's mouth.
If Haley found out they were meeting Leonardo, she'd never let them go.
This made Haley even more suspicious.
She squatted down and gently asked, "Keith, Todd, who are you meeting?"
Keith pursed his lips and confessed, "It's a friend we met online. He knows we're in Hinterlands and wants to treat us to dinner."
"Kids are easily deceived, no matter how smart they are," Thomas said. "Meeting online friends is risky. What if they sell you off?"
Haley said seriously, "This area is unsafe. Someone was robbed right outside our house last night. It's too dangerous for you to go out. I can go with you to meet your friend."
Todd rubbed his nose. If Haley went with them, it would be even harder to keep things secret.
"I remember now," Owen shouted. "Keith and Todd's friend is named Leonardo!"
