Chapter 329
"Haley, your cooking skills are getting incredible. They are so delicious that I could almost swallow my tongue!" Owen declared, his face greasy with enthusiasm as he ate.
Keith gripped his fork, transferring a piece of meat to his bowl. It looked and smelled like any other meat he had eaten, but once he took a gentle bite, he understood why even the picky eater Owen was praising Haley's cooking.
It was simply that delicious.
Beyond the flavor of the ingredients, there seemed to be a warmth to it.
He sampled a bit of each dish, and vaguely, he began to comprehend where this warm feeling came from.
It seemed to be cooked with love.
Keith slightly narrowed his eyes, bowing his head as he continued to eat, bite by gentle bite. He would normally be satisfied with just one bowl, but tonight, he found himself going back for seconds.
Compared to Owen and Angela's hearty appetites, however, his extra help went unnoticed.
As they were finishing their meal, Ivan pulled out the concert tickets from his pocket and subtly turned to the young girl next to him. "Angela, are you free this Saturday afternoon? I'd like to invite you to join me at a piano concert."
The little girl's eyes sparkled as she received the tickets, flipping through them one by one.
Owen enthusiastically counted out loud, "One, two, three, four, five, six! Wow, six tickets in total—that's perfect for all of us to go to the concert together! I'm so excited!"
Haley asked in a calm voice, "Todd, do you want to go?"
Todd nodded. The idea of his little sister going to the concert hall alone with Ivan didn't sit well with him. He had to accompany them.
"You should come too!" urged Owen. "Piano concerts are so delightful, big bro. Take a break from work. Let's all go together."
Keith was silent.
If he remembered correctly, Owen previously complained that the piano was too noisy. When Emily played, it was a cacophony.
Yet, when Angela played, it transformed into exquisite music.
He pursed his lips and said, "I happen to be free this Saturday afternoon. Let's go together."
Ivan glanced at him.
He remembered that there was a product launch event for SpeakTech scheduled for Saturday afternoon, and Keith's attendance was essential. Yet, he chose a concert over the product launch. It seemed like his son was no longer so averse to spending time with Haley.
"Yay! That's great!" Owen cheered and clapped his hands in excitement.
Everyone, even Todd, was on board. Owen couldn't be happier.
"Oh, Haley!" Owen said with wide eyes, drawing closer. "In a couple of days, it's my grandma's birthday. I've invited you, Angela, and Todd to come to my grandma's birthday feast. Is that okay?"
A Winston family banquet—that would surely attract a crowd.
Haley seemed reluctant to expose the two kids to the swarm of cameras.
Reading her hesitation, Ivan spoke up with composure, "It'll be a relatively private event. With Alfred around, you don't have to worry about the kids being exposed."
Haley then remembered that the two children's identities were also kept secret from the public—no one outside knew Ivan had two children.
The Winstons were excellent at keeping secrets; she really had nothing to worry about.
"All right, I'll bring Todd and Angela over to wish the old lady a happy birthday," she said.
Haley nodded in agreement, and Owen danced a little jig, unable to hide his joy.
