Chapter 399 Haley Meets Sterling
Haley recalled the personnel introduction in the Vanguard Corporation brochure; there was only one name, Sterling Hawk.
The last time this man came to Star Technical Company, he introduced himself as Hawk; he must be in charge of Vanguard Corporation's project in Cuenca.
Vanguard Corporation was involved in internet and smart IoT development; it had nothing to do with the human biological experiments that Sterling had mentioned before...
Her mind raced, but in reality, it transpired in less than a blink of an eye.
Every gaze in the conference room bore down on her with a collective exhale of relief. It wasn't for any profound reason, but rather because Mr. Zephyr detested the intrusion of women, and Haley's unexpected presence might just absorb some of his wrath...
"Ms. DeRoss?" Sterling's gaze pierced through her, cold and furious, his lips curling into a sardonic smile.
He swiveled in his chair, fixing his icy glare upon Haley. "Ms. DeRoss, have you deliberated on your course of action?"
Haley mustered a thin smile, her voice a soft murmur, "I'm here to present a bid today. However, I heard of the breach in your company's internal website, prompting my visit."
Sterling's sardonic grin widened, "Is Ms. DeRoss extending her assistance in resolving my predicament?"
Haley felt a shiver crawl beneath his gaze, yet she maintained a composed facade. "It appears Sterling doesn't require it."
With that, she turned to leave.
"Stop." Sterling rose abruptly, pushing the computer screen toward her. "This is the company's mainframe; all our data and memory reside here. Come here."
Haley turned around and walked up to the computer.
She sat down, leaning slightly forward; her fingers flew quickly across the keys with precision... The Trojan virus seemed eerily familiar to Haley, evoking memories of Todd's fascination with such malware in his computer simulations.
Todd had mentioned this virus was a novel Trojan deployed by a foreign hacker organization to vet its recruits.
"This is the U-TF Trojan," Haley stated, navigating through her screen, "They've infiltrated your internal systems and compromised your servers. Funds from your internal network could be siphoned out... But I've thwarted their escape; the money hasn't left the country."
With a flurry of keystrokes, she pressed "Enter" several times.
Gasps echoed in the conference room. "Mr. Zephyr, the funds have been restored!" exclaimed one.
"Mr. Zephyr, the proliferation of the Trojan virus has been stopped..." another chimed in.
Haley remained composed. "Don't celebrate just yet. Mobilize technicians to patch the vulnerabilities to prevent any retaliation from the hackers."
The management team scrambled to relay her directives.
With the hacker expelled from the network, Haley allowed herself a deep breath.
Rising to her feet, she commanded, "Strengthen the firewall, implement S-level encryption, and block all IP addresses associated with the attack..."
The head of the technical department diligently jotted down her instructions.
Thus, a crisis initiated by foreign hackers was silently resolved.
Sterling, steadying himself against the conference table, his gaze penetrating, spoke slowly to Haley, "Tell me, what is it you seek?"
His tone was off-putting to Haley.
She took a step back, and before she could respond, Sterling continued, "I know what you're here to bid for. But that's separate from this. Ask for something else."
Haley curved her lips into a faint smile and said, "I heard the position of lead chip designer is practically decided?"
