Chapter 617
Watching the hurried figure of Martin disappear, Haley's lips tightened slowly.
Whether it was her illusion or not, she always felt that whenever the name Sterling was mentioned, Martin's emotions would get out of control.
Sterling, Ivan.
Ivan, Sterling.
Haley repeated these two names.
"Mummy, why did Daddy leave?" Angela ran over, crying.
Haley pulled back her thoughts, bent down to pick up Angela, and said, "Daddy is busy with something, I'll play with you."
"No!" Angela cried stubbornly, "I want Daddy. If Daddy's not here, I won't play!"
Haley sighed.
Angela was really spoiled.
Before marriage, Ivan would fulfill any of Angela's wishes. It could be said that even if it was the moon in the sky, Ivan would want to pluck it and give it to Angela.
But after marriage, Ivan suddenly didn't come home for a month. When he did come back, he no longer showed the same affection towards Angela.
Such a sudden and huge change, anyone would find it hard to handle.
If she divorced Ivan, Angela probably wouldn't be able to accept that fact.
"Mummy, how about we go back?" Owen couldn't bear to see Angela crying, "Maybe next time when Daddy is available, we can come back to the amusement park."
Keith also nodded, "Angela is tired of playing, let's go back and rest."
Haley nodded, preparing to take the four children home.
When they got outside, Haley realized that she hadn't driven here today. It was Ivan who had driven them to the amusement park.
Ivan drove off, leaving the five of them here.
Haley hailed a taxi, and twenty minutes later, the car arrived at the Winston family mansion.
"Why are you guys back without Ivan? Why didn't Ivan come with you?" Brenda asked in surprise.
Haley got out of the car with the sleeping Angela in her arms and said with a smile, "He had something to attend to at the company, so he left early."
Brenda also forced a smile, saying, "How was your day at the amusement park?"
"Today, we met Ms. Katherine at the amusement park," Haley casually mentioned as she handed Angela over to Alfred, "Ivan and Katherine talked a lot, their relationship seems quite good."
Brenda's eyes flickered. "I lived in Australia for four years, and Katherine took care of me. Ivan has always been grateful to her."
Haley held a glass of water, sipping as she asked, "Does Ivan have any brothers?"
"No!" Brenda perked up, carefully choosing her words, saying, "Haley, why are you suddenly asking this?"
"Just felt curious all of a sudden," Haley smiled, "We, the Deross family, don't seem to have twins in our genes, and it seems the Winston family doesn't either, but I ended up having quadruplets. Don't you find that strange?"
"It must be a genetic mutation," Brenda nervously replied, "No one can say for sure about these things."
Haley nodded. "Just a casual inquiry, why do you seem a bit nervous?"
"Really?" Brenda's back was damp with sweat and she answered, "I'm just feeling a bit warm. I'll go outside for some fresh air."
Haley stared at Brenda's retreating figure; her eyes tinged with a hint of darkness.
She looked towards Todd standing not far away and said softly, "Todd, come with me."
Todd obediently followed.
Todd has been following Haley from a distance all day, and he can roughly guess what happened between Haley and Ivan.
