Chapter 921
"Daddy, we get it," Todd stood up, "Mom's not feeling too hot. How about you take her upstairs to chill?"
Ivan ruffled Todd's hair.
Todd was sharp; he got it all.
Honestly, it was Todd who helped Haley shine these past four years.
Ivan helped Haley upstairs. As soon as the door shut, Haley leaned on Ivan's shoulder and started sobbing.
"Ivan, you know too, right? But you kept it from me," she cried. "I saw that interview about the Bio-intelligent Chip today. None of those folks had a happy ending. Even with medical help, they lived in pain. Is that gonna be me too?"
"Haley, stop with the crazy talk!" Ivan tried to soothe her. "The biggest side effect of the Bio-intelligent Chip is just getting cranky and short-tempered. It's no biggie. Look at me, everyone at Winston Group is scared stiff of my bad temper. When I blow up, they think it's doomsday."
Haley chuckled and wiped her tears, "Do you know what they call you behind your back?"
"Of course, I do, the Great Demon King," Ivan booped her nose. "Soon, they'll have a nickname for you too."
Haley raised an eyebrow, "What nickname?"
"The Ice Queen."
"You jerk!" Haley playfully smacked his chest, "How can you tease your wife like that?"
Ivan hugged her tight, "I love you no matter what. The kids are growing up; they'll get it. As for everyone else, who cares? As long as we're happy, that's all that counts."
Haley felt a bit better. She hummed, "If anyone calls me the Ice Queen, you're in big trouble."
Ivan kissed her, and soon they were tangled up on the bed.
The days got colder, and Christmas vibes were everywhere.
Haley stopped going to the office, leaving it all to Ivan.
She didn't want to hear anything about the Bio-intelligent Chip project and risk losing her cool in public. Every time she lost it, she felt like falling apart. She didn't want that.
During this time, the kids were angels. They read, did homework, and played in the yard, never bothering Haley.
Before they knew it, it was Christmas Day. Haley had promised Cauth they'd celebrate with the Lumi Family.
On Christmas afternoon, Haley and Ivan took their four kids to the Lumi Family villa.
The streets were buzzing with traffic and excitement.
Every lamppost had Christmas ornaments, and the twinkling lights made everything festive.
The Lumi Villa was decked out too, with a huge Christmas tree still being decorated. The garden was full of kid-friendly decorations, super charming.
A red carpet covered the ground, lights hung under the eaves, and the house was full of traditional Christmas stuff.
"Haley, you made it," Cauth greeted them with a big smile. "Come here, kids, let me give you a hug."
Keith led the charge, "Merry Christmas!"
"Merry Christmas!"
Other kids chimed in, and the house buzzed with energy.
Haley and Ivan went inside, greeting everyone. Ivan followed her lead, calling people whatever she did.
This was Ivan's first time at the Lumi Villa.
