Chapter 228

Louis tutted twice.

Had Ivan not set his sights on her, Louis would have made his move long ago.

It was too bad he was no match for Ivan. To be frank, he was no match for her either.

Glances from every corner swept over them, accompanied by hushed murmurs.

"Mr. Ivan keeps getting more dashing by the day. I just wonder which lucky lady in Cuenca will catch his eye..."

"Stop daydreaming. Didn't you see how Cuenca's most beautiful has already stolen Mr. Ivan's heart? Well, Mr. Ivan is a man, and men have their weaknesses. They can't help but stop in their tracks for a pretty face."

"Alas, I'm so disappointed in Mr. Ivan. He was the man I wanted to marry. It turns out he's just like every other man."

"I've been fooled by Mr. Ivan too..."

Upon hearing this, Louis burst into roars of laughter.

Beauties in this city were giving up on Ivan, which meant an opportunity for him.

Ivan's face darkened. Whenever he attended such events, a throng of women would critique him. He detested it immensely.

He said in a cold tone, "I thought we have a private room reserved?"

Mark, holding a glass of wine, suggested, "Let's head to the room to talk."

The group of four made their way to the suite.

Once inside, Haley booted up her laptop. "I'll show you the ropes. If you have questions, just ask away."

Louis, with a grin, said, "We're at a cruise party. Discussing work here feels a bit dry."

Haley eyed him coldly. "And when would be a good time for you, Louis?"

"Let's take it to your office on Monday and have a proper chat then. But for now, let's enjoy the party. It's a great opportunity to unwind."

Haley snapped her laptop shut. "Fine. I'll expect you at my office tomorrow. I'm out of here."

Louis was almost dizzy with incredulity. This woman was so impervious. It was a party outside, yet she could discuss work without batting an eyelash.

He used to think she was pretty enough to fool around with as a girlfriend. Now, he realized they were worlds apart. Only Ivan would fit a workaholic like her.

"Ms. Haley, since you're here, let's finish our talk before you leave," Mark mediated with a smile. "We're not yet clear on the details of Project A-F. You might as well fill us in."

Ivan's gaze cut through the room. "Louis, are you not interested in talking?"

Louis touched his nose. "No, of course I am. Let's talk."

He had invested several hundred million into the project. There was no way he could just neglect it. If his father asked about it next time and he knew nothing, he would be under his father's mercy.

Haley sat down and booted up the virtual system again.

She had barely started when Ivan's phone vibrated.

He glanced at the caller ID. "It's my mom. I need to take this. Excuse me."

He slid the private room's door open and stepped out.

"Let's pick this up after Ivan's done with his call," suggested Louis, leaning back into the couch. He had a glint in his eyes. "Ms. Haley, are you thirsty? Can I get you something to drink?"

Haley's voice was slightly hoarse from how stuffy the room was. The gentle sway of the cruise ship was also making her head spin.

She nodded nonchalantly. "A glass of wine would be great, thanks, Louis."

Louis's lips curled into a half-smile. "Ivan, consider this as a favor. I've done all I can for you, bro."
