Chapter 156
Seconds later, her phone exploded with messages—
"Haley, you're so heartless!"
"Haley, this is the 999th time you've blocked my number, I'll remember this!"
"Haley, I was wrong, please give me another chance!"
Without a second glance, Haley turned her phone face down on the desk.
Lifting her gaze, she put on a warm smile, "Sorry for the interruption, Nicholas, we can continue now. You were discussing Visual Studio, a rather traditional programming approach. I've made a few modifications..."
"I’ll take this initial design back to the Winston Group for a thorough review," Nicholas said as he rose to his feet. "The A-F project is a major investment for the Winston Group, and some details can't be settled just between the two of us."
Haley nodded with a smile, “You make a good point, Nicholas. Let the tech department at the Winston Group evaluate it first and then we can discuss the next steps.”
Nicholas left the studio with a thick stack of programming design papers in his hands.
Once inside his car, he tossed the documents onto the passenger seat without much thought. He had glanced at them earlier and hadn't paid much attention, but during Haley's phone call, he took the opportunity to look over a couple of pages more carefully.
Upon closer inspection, he found the programming design proposal to be quite laughable.
Although the end result of the proposal was pretty much what Mrs. Winston had anticipated, the way it came together was utterly unconventional.
The most common programming languages on the market today were all considered flawed in this design proposal. The designer had shattered them and fused their pieces into a novel approach to coding... Was it a stroke of genius or an overabundance of confidence?
Nicholas shook his head and drove back to the Winston Group.
He took the proposal and headed straight to the top floor. Ivan was in a board meeting while Luke was tidying up files in the CEO's office.
Upon his entry, Luke greeted him with enthusiasm. “Nicholas, you met with Ms. DeRoss today, right?”
Luke might not keep track of everything, but when it came to Ms. DeRoss, he noted every detail.
After all, Mrs. Winston had a special interest in Ms. DeRoss...
“Yeah, I discussed the preliminary design for the A-F project with her...” Nicholas began, but Luke cut in.
“You know, Nicholas, next time, it’d be better if you went with Mrs. Winston to see Ms. DeRoss,” Luke suggested with a wink. “Mrs. Winston is quite invested in this project. It'd be best if she personally handled talks with Ms. DeRoss...”
Nicholas read between the lines .
Was Mrs. Winston more focused on the project itself or the person leading it?
Could it be that Mrs. Winston was spellbound by Haley?
Is that why such an ambitious and groundbreaking project was handed over to a studio that was just starting out?
Nicholas’s expression grew complex. “Such a significant initiative, in collaboration with Mr. Louis . Miller, and a minimum investment of half a billion—is Mrs. Winston being too hasty in choosing her partners?”
“You might not be aware, Nicholas, but actually Ms. DeRoss is...” Luke’s revelation was cut short by a poised and commanding figure approaching down the corridor. He swiftly composed himself and respectfully greeted, “Mrs. Winston!”
Nicholas turned and followed suit with a cordial nod, then handed over the design proposal, “Mrs. Winston, this is the initial draft for the A-F project from Star Technology's Haley for your review.”
Ivan flipped through the proposal casually, skimming two pages before speaking up, "What do you think of the initial plan?"
