Chapter 567
Keith smoothly stepped aside, clearing the path.
Ivan finally arrived at the bedroom door. As he was about to knock, the door swung open.
He could instantly see everything happening in the bedroom. On the not-so-large bed, four women dressed in identical wedding gowns sat with their backs to him.
Ivan raised an eyebrow. It seemed he had to identify the real bride.
This task did not seem too difficult.
"Daddy, please put this on." Todd handed him a black sunglasses.
Ivan squinted and asked, "What's this for?"
"I've designed a virtual simulation. By wearing this VR headset, you can immerse yourself in the experience," Todd explained. "While in the game, please rescue the real bride."
Once he put on the sunglasses, the scene in front of him changed.
It was a cave engulfed in raging flames, with four brides in white wedding gowns locked in four cells.
Each bride's face was a replica of Haley's with features, figures, eyes, and lips that were 100% identical.
Ivan realized that Todd had meticulously designed this realistic scenario as these faces were also diligently copied off Haley's features so that it was impossible to distinguish the real Haley solely based on appearance.
Ivan took a few steps toward the increasingly intense flames.
However, he knew it was just a simulation. In reality, he was just walking around the room.
Ivan continued to walk as cries for help echoed in his ears.
"Ivan, save me. Please save me."
"I'm in so much pain. It hurts. Please save me."
"Save me. I'm about to burn to death."
Their agonizing cries kept coming, and Ivan's gaze swept across the four faces in front of him.
Step by step, Ivan walked through the flames in the virtual scenario. Despite the imagery shifting abruptly, it did not affect him at all.
He kept moving until he stopped in front of the fourth cell.
With a wave of his hand, a golden light poured out from his fingertips. The cell door locked, and Haley was rescued.
"Congratulations! You've cleared the level!" A mechanical voice from the game sounded in his ears. The simulation in front of him immediately disappeared.
Ivan took off the sunglasses and found the real Haley in his arms. His eyes softened with deep affection that was almost overflowing.
As they were surrounded by guests, Haley blushed and asked, "How did you know it was me?"
"Only you didn't call for help," Ivan whispered. "You are different from the others. You are an independent individual who never seeks help from others, no matter the difficulties you face. Still, from today onward, I hope you can learn to seek help from me. I am your husband and your partner in life. We should face all challenges and setbacks together."
Haley nodded, her face flushed. "Okay, I will slowly learn to accept that."
She was learning to show vulnerability, to stand behind Ivan, and to enjoy the protection and care of a loved one.
As Todd watched them, he felt extremely frustrated. He had spent three sleepless nights creating the scenario, only for Ivan to crack it in a few minutes.
Todd tugged at Ivan's sleeve, looking displeased. "Daddy, don't celebrate too soon. There's still one more level to go."
Ivan turned around to see Angela smiling at him with her face full of joy.
Angela was his little princess and surely not one to make things difficult for him.
