Chapter 335

Ivan's eyes lingered on Haley's refined features, his Adam's apple involuntarily bobbing.

"Mr. Ivan, if you could move your leg, my water bottle would be just to your left."

As Haley leaned below the seats, her hand patted his leg. Every nerve in Ivan's body tensed at once. It was a mere touch against his pant leg, yet a sudden heat flared up within him.

He remembered that day on the cruise ship—her flushed cheeks, her full figure, the seductive murmuring, and that faint fragrance.

Without controlling himself, he leaned in and deeply inhaled near her neck and back.

The scent was the same as that from five years ago. The woman he had spent a night intertwined with could only be her.

"Mr. Ivan, please—" She uttered a gentle reminder again.

Ivan snapped back to his senses.

He realized what he was doing.

This was the sort of things Louis would do. It was as if Louis had possessed him.

Glancing at the children seated nearby, who were engrossed in the piano performance and oblivious to their exchange, he exhaled in relief and whispered, "Let me get that for you."

He reached down to his left, but instead of the bottle, his hand brushed against something soft.

Before he could even react, the hand pulled away as if it had been electrocuted.

Haley swiftly retracted her hand.

She looked up slightly, and her eyes met Ivan's.

Both were hunched over, leaning on the backrests of their chairs. In such a confined space, their eye contact was intensely intimate.

Haley's heart suddenly began to pound uncontrollably.

She took a deep breath, trying to calm herself, but her nose suddenly picked up a familiar scent.

It was from that night five years ago—the scent of that man.

That man was Ivan.

Haley's eyelashes quivered violently, the dim light transporting her back to five years ago.

The man had pounced on her like a starving wolf, tearing at her clothes with reckless abandon, oblivious to her pleas and cries. He never stopped.

In the end, she lay torn apart, discarded on the hotel bed like a broken doll.

"Here's your water bottle."

Ivan picked up the water bottle and handed it to her.

His gaze fixed on Haley's trembling lashes; his brow furrowed slightly. "What's wrong?"

Haley shoved the water bottle into her purse, her voice barely audible. "I'm fine..."

Ivan continued to stare at her. He could clearly see terror and fear in her eyes—the same as on that night aboard the cruise ship...

It seemed like he really frightened her. If he did, she had no reason to ask him to be her boyfriend.

At that moment, the piano concert reached its climax. A group of pianists played a famous symphony; the music was spirited and uplifting.

Haley's inner turmoil gradually faded, and she found herself completely lost in the swell of the music.

Just then, a man's deep, cold voice sounded in her ear.
