Chapter 605
"The lipstick was just an accident."
Martin explained patiently.
His hand slowly moved down from her chin and wrapped around her slender waist.
Martin leaned in slowly, whispering in her ear, "Haley, I've been too caught up with work this month and neglected you. That was my fault. I apologize. Can you forgive me?"
In a daze, Haley felt like she saw the old Ivan, the Ivan who loved her, cared for her, protected her, and always respected her.
"Haley, it's not that I don't love you. I just don't know how . Can we start over?"
Martin cupped Haley's face with both hands, his thin lips inching closer.
Haley's mind was buzzing all of a sudden.
Her body reacted before her mind could, quickly pulling away to dodge Martin's kiss.
Martin’s lips were met with nothing but air., a flash of anger appeared in his eyes but he quickly suppressed it.
He licked his lips and said slowly, "As long as we're still married, legally you're still my wife. As your husband, can't I even kiss you?"
Haley just stared at him from up close.
A moment ago, his sudden apology had reminded her of the old Ivan.
But now, he had returned to his usual sarcastic self.
Haley wondered if there were two completely different souls living inside Ivan's body, able to switch at will.
She couldn't tell which one was the real Ivan.
"Be good, don't resist."
Martin pressed down on Haley's shoulders.
He wanted to kiss her again.
Haley suppressed the urge to flee, standing still silently and waiting for the kiss she didn’t desire.
Suddenly, Haley's eyes flashed as she noticed the skin beneath Martin's collar.
His tie had been loosened since he entered, and two buttons of his shirt were undone, revealing his muscular chest.
The week before their wedding, Haley and Ivan were together every night, even taking baths together.
Haley knew every inch of Ivan's skin like the back of her hand.
Just a week ago, his chest bore no tattoos, but now, there was a snake tattoo on it, all the lines intertwining intricately.
Haley's eyes were filled with disbelief.
Martin followed her gaze, his eyes darkening.
He raised his hand and casually buttoned up his shirt, then coldly said, "I got it specifically to match the tattoo on your collarbone."
"Really?" Haley pursed her lips.
Her gaze remained fixed on Martin's chest.
Martin straightened his collar and said icily, "I just remembered that there's something I need to handle at the office. I'll leave now."
As she watched him leave in a hurry, some memories began to surface in Haley's mind.
